The last photos are really great indeed...
A question (someone asked me): do you know if the construction of the islands around Burj Dubai are stopped? I told him of course not... (?)

I posted a while ago on the idea that we can guage when this thing is fully completed by watching for the blue man group coming and going. I never thought about how many are working right now. As Imre posted there is not 12,000 now but I do believe there was at some point.

Hi hooded.

We have pics of interiors being worked on from months ago. They have been working on the lower level interiors concurrently with the exterior for a long time now.

My list of things completed and open for business and part of the soft opening:
- Landscaping on all 3 podiums
- Pool annex
- Hotel entrance and lobby
- Residence entrance and lobby
- Observatory elevator lobby
- Armani hotel - levels 5 to 8 and 38, 39
- Armani hotel residences - levels 9 to 16
- Hotel residences - levels 19 to 37
- Observation level - level 124
Question marks:
- Some levels of the office annex
- Some or all levels of residential (some almost surely) - levels 43 to 72
- Some levels of luxury residential - levels 76 and 78 to 108
- Some levels of boutique office - levels 112 to 121, 123, 125 to 135, 139 to 154

The last 2 question marks I name because there is some lights on in the lower of those levels but they are highly questionable and would only be the lowest few levels if any at all.

As some of us have been saying for some time now - completion of the whole of the works will be well into '10 (perhaps Q3) and we may have to decipher clues to figure out when the BD is fully open for business.

Thanks fury. I think you are probably right. But I really don't think Q3. They would not have said Jan if Q3.

I think that it will open in Jan but lots of office space and residential space will remain closed while it is completed. My personal opinion. That way they can carry on (maybe even till Q3 ) without so much pressure on them for deadlines and BD gets its huge grand opening.
Because lets face it, It's the hotel and entrance, fountains and shopping centre that have the wow factor on the lower floors

I love the line of lights snaking it's way to the tip, which I suppose will spiral up the entire spire.. Elegant.

This is what it looked like in the pre-campion era when the middle east was a tropical forest. Then the men invented cars and global warming and the whole area turned into a desert.

I personally believe this thing will open mid to late Q2 totally, but it might be earlier.
