A Great Example

I am SO DISAPPOINTED! I am in Dubai Dec. 16-20 and will miss this now. Now they change the date.

Burj Dubai opening delayed until early 2010

The supertall skyscraper in Dubai, designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill of Chicago, had been scheduled to open on Dec. 2. But its debut has been pushed back to January 4. When complete, the Burj will be the world's tallest building. Read the full story here.

Sounds good and I am free any day next week. We should keep an eye on the weather and be flexible I think

It's not a trick, it's a panorama This image consists of six separate photographs which I have stitched together with a special software. So when you start from the left you will shoot down SZR Deira bound. Moving to the right you will end up again shooting down SZR to towards Abu Dhabi. The result is a bend in SZR when the pics are stitched together

Hi Pentimo,
your panos are mindblowing! Could you please give some info about the hardware that you use? Ist it a mirror like this http://www.panorama-hardware.de/cgi-...ES360&lang=com ? As per my knowledge these usually only allow some 100° vertical field of view. How do you make it a sphere? With regards to this the following pano caught my attention: http://panorama.pentimo.com/panos/du...ort=0&categ=99 How is it possible to achieve this "snapshot look"

You seem to do this professionally and might not want to tell the inside story, but I would appreciate maybe some hints...

@others
Sorry for the off topic

Hi,

The one-shoot mirror lens is the "compact" "tourist" version of panorama photo making. ( bad resolution, low quality, never will be better... )

I can give you a useful link where is the most of knowledge :

http://www.vrmag.org/vartist/VR_indu..._TUTORIAL.html

but it's the first step only...

(additional keywords: HDR, Gigapixel, multi-level resolution, photoshop.... )

We have not any inside story secret

We have a lot of conception with "Virtual Tour" and "Dubai".

We like this technique and we would like to achieve a unique "Virtual Dubai" like real Dubai is very unique.

All type of cooperation, idea, contact, request, ...etc are most welcome

Hi TX.
Yes it is a good play on words to call all the workers in blue coveralls - the blueman group. I can't remember who came up with that ...
The actual group is awesome !! Their act is very intriguing and visual.

Hi Who.
Emaar jumped the gun saying cladding is completed for sure. There is a few weeks to go yet before I will be adding to my milestone table me thinks.

Hi Wonderland.
That does suck for sure. You will still be able to see the structure and area though.
Your predicament does bring up an interesting question though. I wonder if the hotel is taking reservations yet ? If so what does the additional delay do for their image ? They would have to call people and tell them they have to rebook - makes for a black eye I reckon ...

Another thing I forgot in my completed list for soft opening is the underground parking. I would think both levels will be fully open.

Hi Fury,

Agree with that. It is also my opinion that the cladding is not yet complete on BD. How can they say it's complete when it's so blatantly obvious from almost every photo here that it isn't!? Still lots of panels to be placed, but I've no doubt the cladding will be totally complete in time for the soft opening.

Burj Dubai scoops Tower Project of the Year http://www.constructionweekonline.co...t-of-the-year/

Well, at least for now, they are picking up awards.
