Congrats to Imre for getting inside for a few hours....fantastic! Bet you didn't mind that one bit. The shots of the BMU are very cool! I don't know anyone that wouldn't have enjoyed that excursion.

Thanks TXSkyWatcher

Yep, it's simply awesome to see inside the mighty Burj like this. It's been a hell of a long wait too! It's hard to put into words what a monumental achievement this structure really is....just mind-blowing! Looking forward to more photos from Imre later today, as he mentioned.

As I saw the site yesterday, I dont think so but there is always a chance for a miracle

I spoke with many people and the most optimistic estimation was minimum 6 months from now but usually I got numbers between 6 and 12 months.

If its Jan 2010 for the soft openig it should be a very very soft .

It can't be said enough. Imre ... you ROCK!

Totally cool to pick apart the BMU from the pics and see how it works. Love the way the BMU perches on it's own pieces of guideposts before it's engaged and those guideposts then connect with the guideposts outside so that the BMU can transfer to the outer ones and go on it's way. Totally cool!

As I look at the workers, I can't find words to describe how brave and relentless these heroes are. Without them none of this would be possible, let alone build the world's tallest building in 4 years. I think respect is the least we can give and do for them.

Imre!

I'm throwing a great big man-hug atcha!! I must be a total geek, but seeing your pics showing how the BMUs work is one of the most exciting posts in this thread.

And how about the teak-like decking on the private balcony? NICE! Interesting textural contrast, but at the same time I'm kind-of glad that only those units can see/enjoy.

Hi all.

Thanks Imre - pics from on the structure do help to take my mind off the pain.

I really enjoyed the zoom shots of the BMU's from a few weeks ago - they cleared up exactly how they work.
But these shots are amazing. Someone better have (and probably did) get paid large for coming up with this ingenius method for the BMU's to move around.
I was wondering how the platform was going to be stabilized from swinging in the wind when hanging down. I figured the spandrels (correct wording - ?) would be used somehow. Another question answered.

Imre I usually wait for you to put your pics on Picasa as there is usually more shots there than you post here - I presume you will be putting all the shots from your site visit there as well ?

I've said it before and I'll say it again - we from all over the globe as so lucky to have all you guys in Dubai taking the time to keep us updated.
Thank you - your work is very much appreciated.

Yes, that album will be available soon.

I found this "terrace" around the 125th floor , any idea what is this exactly? I had no time to look around better.

its part of the observation deck or something else?

Looks like the perfect spot to put a bar with some stalls and probably a few tables, like the Vue Bar at the roof of the Hyatt on the bund in Shanghai...

125th floor is office floor, right? I also wonder what will be that too?
