Hi all.

BS3 .

6 stops total:
1 - level 160
2 - level 160 mezz 1
3 - level 160 mezz 2
4 - level 160 mezz 3
5 - section 18A
6 - section 18B

not exactly on the 160th , a little bit higher, but still the 160th as I saw the plan

Imre after you got off the elevator at section 18B you had 6.4 meters to climb up to tier 19 (named roof 1). Did you climb a ladder or these steep stairs ?

ladder, no stairs there so I had to climb

Imre the plans and the elevator information you cropped show BS3 going up to level 160 as its top stop and the Pega hoist starting at level 160 as its bottom stop. Are you saying there is a third elevator on level 160 not on the list or in the plans for materials only ? If so does it go up or down from 160 ?

sorry, I was wrong that is the BS3 ! the third elevator is not exist there , sorry for that

difficult to read the letters ...Spire Support Beam,Spire pre erection sequence , the third one just guess .. maybe Lifting units?
Hi Imre.

Thank you so much for the response.
I see now the print of level 160 does show a small set of stairs to get up to the first stop of the pega hoist. As you said still on level 160 though.
Nice to get confirmation that the elevators are as per the plans up there.

I'm surprised you had to climb an actual ladder to get to tier 19. The plans show stairs up to tier 22 but I don't have anything actually showing them for tiers 19 and 20 - just 21 and 22. I wonder if there is stairs going up to tier 22 and only a ladder to get to tier 19 terrace ? Perhaps they revised the plans yet again and it is all ladders above section 18B.

Thanks for the shots of the plans from up there. Yes the third one is of the lifting units that jacked the spire.

Hi christos.

I'm sure you are correct. They are actually hotel suites guest rooms on levels 38 and 39 which are part of the Armani hotel that also has rooms on levels 5 to 8. Unless of course they revised the plans ...

I think I know where that's taken from.

I very nearly ventured in there a couple of weeks back when stumbling on the new road opening. Place looked totally deserted.

Gonna be giving the 3.5>4GP pano another try early tomorrow morning if I can drag myself out of bed

Have a look at the viedo from inside BS3 - the slow speed can be seen -

4 seconds to go each floor in the steel section from 160 to 156

3 seconds for each floor in the concrete part

6.4m by 4 = 1.6 m/s, or 4.8m by 3 = 1.6 m/s

Can anyone explain or suggest why it's this speed, for a main service or fire evacuation elevator. Sure, right now it's being used for heavy lifting, but it's obviously a big elevator - I had expected more speed - like at least 3.5 m/s considering that it covers from L139 to 160.

Also, on this chart, the seven passenger lifts for the hotel, and the two main obs lifts are not included. All the other tower lifts are on this chart. Any idea as to why ??

They show a top level of 153 for BO-4/5/6 and BS5. I thought it's 154, according to the plans and prints we have seen.

Question about Imre's trip ??? Level 149 ???

@Imre - and for anyone else who may know the answers

What happened on level 149 - is there a BMU or something else to be seen there ? They went from 149 up to 160, and then into the Spire. When they made the last video they went down from 160 to 149 on BS3.

BS3 goes down to 138 where they can connect to BS1 to go anywhere they want.

Did they go into the hotel section at all - as of Friday 10PM Dubai time, we did not yet see any pics of the main hotel area so we don't know how much more work still needs to be done before Opening. We did see some pics of the 39th floor which is hotel suites - this looks like it could be finished by the end of the year.

Are there any more pics of the hotel area, lobby, dining rooms etc. etc., or
are they not allowed to show us any of this yet ?

Thank you

BMU control questions

We have seen pictures and videos of BMU tests - with the control panel inside the basket that carries the workers.

When the BMU is lifting material, without a basket where is it controlled from ?

Is there a control room, or a panel for each unit. Workers need to be able to see what it is doing - either directly, or on a screen to control it and work safely.

How is the basket separated from the unit when they need to lift something that does not fit into the basket ?

Any comments ?

Thank you

The shaking and the wind must be terrible, but nothing can beat that view!!!!

What I want to see is a photo from inside the tower while the clouds (or the mist) are low enough, to mimic the view from a plane! That would really be awesome!

I can see holes in the cladding. Are those open windows, or are there still panels yet to be installed?

This must be a base-jumpers wettest and wildest dream, actually, any normal skydiver could jump from there

Hi Library.

My assumption for the elevator info list not including all the lifts is because of the sign being up that high.

Level 154 use is stated as boutique office mezzanine - access must be by stairs only being both 153 and 154 are supposedly for the Emaar chairman.

Imre's visit was with the BMU people - he probably couldn't go where ever.

2 of Imre's shots clearly show there is another control panel on the base of the higher BMU's besides the one on the platform. Also 1 shot shows a seperate panel for the BMU's that ride the rails.

I imagine the platforms can easily be seperated from the lines so they can lift other things.

another good round of questions Library.

Hi Random.

There are still a few cladding panels and/or glazing in existing panels to be done up high on the structure. Also the office annex is still not fully cladded.

Hi all.

It looks like the wood decking will be on most if not all the lower terraces. I think it looks great - a nice contrast to the stainless steel / brushed aluminum. It also looks like it will be on the top of the entrances. I didn't think there would be access to the entrance "roofs" so perhaps what they are putting there is just the same color as the wood decking ? I see the "penthouse" on the pool annex looks to have the same decking on its roof.

This thing is really looking good with the finishing touches being added.

Yes, only ladder there maybe for security reason, on the 160th floor has another checking point ,only few workers and engineers can go higher.
