Imre - you should seriously think about doing one of these with your pictures of the Burj:

Shame my iMac is busy and can't be interrupted.

Only had about 100 or so images on this computer to create this with. (Imre - you really need to do a few of these!)

Hi all.

Thanks again for the site visi shots Imre. Just got finished dloading them all. Cool collages too.

Gerald that collage / mosaic is really cool also - all BD pics.

Looking at the shots from Imre from tier 19 terrace I see there is a few finishing touches to be done - including some cladding. The scaffolding etc. up in the steelwork says to me there is still things to be done there as well.
I guess there is no panic even by the full opening date (well into '10) as no one will be up there but workers yet I suspect it will be all cleaned up by then.

Welcome Fury,

I asked the BMU company about the cleaning , they said that the full facade cleaning of the Burj Dubai takes around 3 months but after they can start again, so its a lifetime business

I tried something for you, I hope you will have a fast recovery

source: The Telegraph 16/11/2009

The world’s tallest tower opens in seven weeks in what could be a sign of this showcase Gulf city-state’s swaggering confidence in its future. Or a soaring confidence trick.
When it opens on January 4 with room for 35,000 people in its 800 apartments, Armani hotel and residences, 144th-floor nightclub, offices and commercial space, the Burj Dubai will stand at 818 metres, with 160 floors, 54 of the fastest elevators on the planet and no parallel for height or engineering skill in the world.
Manit Rastogi, who owns one of Delhi’s leading architecture firms Morphogenesis, saw the Burj a few months ago and gives it the thumbs up as a design and engineering triumph. The Indian imprint is strong if not always obvious. Rajam Krishna Moorthy of Turner International, the Burj’s project and construction management company, says more than half the 14,000 workers on site are Indian.
Emaar, its promoter, conceived and developed the syringeshaped Burj as a thrusting indicator that Dubai would make the desert boom with a tax-free lifestyle built on real estate and high finance. But the global recession sent Dubai’s economy into freefall and the 1.1-billion-dollar Burj suddenly began to be seen as a sign of all that was wrong with a city which reportedly owes more than 100% of its GDP and now survives on loans from neighbouring Abu Dhabi.
However, Emaar publicists maintain the world’s tallest freestanding manmade structure and 500-acre mega development around it is still prime property. Just days ago, a report by property agency Colliers International said the Burj area delivered the highest prices per square foot in Dubai over the third quarter. But property prices overall are nearly half of what they were in the same period a year earlier.
Emaar says none of this matters to the Burj, which was oversubscribed within weeks of starting construction in January 2004. It is sold out, they insist.
If so, this was good thinking by Emaar, in which the Dubai government has a 32% stake. Nearly a year after the recession began, office vacancy in Dubai is reportedly at least 20% and some brokers gloomily predict that half the city’s office space might be empty in two years. Many of Dubai’s new residential buildings have large “To Let” signs on them.
To that extent, observers say, the Burj means more to Dubai than mere monetary profit. At more than 2,625 ft, it is taller than the KVLY-TV mast in North Dakota, till now the world’s tallest manmade structure. It is more than twice as tall as the Empire State building. It will be completed in 1,325 days, even though its public launch has been delayed by 13 months. To Emaar and Emiratis then, the Burj is a virility symbol in concrete.

Wow, the glass is so dirty.
I guess they already cleaned it all, or perhaps never did for this part.

Cheers!

Hi Imre.
I'm honoured Imre - thank you so much.

Day 6 in my recovery today - down to just a few pain killers / day.
I took my anual vacation from my day job so that is good - not my idea of a vacation but I gotta do what I gotta do ...
I will return to light duty for 4 to 6 weeks after my vacation is over.

Sorry for the OT all.
