The Burj, and Dubai's night skylines in general make for great elements. No surprise there.

Btw this was thrown together in 20 minutes (as I do a lot of them on the spot for her), please don't judge my PS skills too harshly based on this image.

yes, the city for your standarts understands art stands to many standarts, unlike stupid Dubai, who doesn't have standarts or art stands, only heigh buildings,

Then what is it you're doing on skyscrapercity.com if you don't like heigh buildings?

If I'm not mistaken, that's an 8x10* view camera.

The focusing screen that you see in the shots from behind will be removed and replaced with the film plate for the actual photo.

*i.e. The film that the photo is taken on is 8 inches by 10 inches. To put that into perspective, a standard 35mm film camera has film that is about 1 inch by 1.5 inches, or less than 2% of the area.

35mm film is close to around an effective resolution of 25 megapixels. So if film from that camera gets scanned...

Each plate cost $40 dollars, plus then mega bucks to process.

Photo of a plate being loaded.

His name is David and he is from Vancouver

Here's the story as I only met him 20 minutes before.

I was driving round business bay, saw some guy taking pictures so I stoped and asked if he was an investor. He said he was an architect, he was more interested in 014, so I said I could get us up U-Bora to see the view.

We go their and took him up, he liked the view and asked if he could get his bigger camera from the car. I asked what he had,, nikon,, canon,, ect... He said and 8x10.. (Not knowing what an 8x10 was) I said ok

He then pulled this out of his magic sack.

He runs 4 Galleries in Canada, his first vist to Dubai. Said I would take him round tomorrow.

Each photo sells as a limited print from $2000 upwards

People you meet with Camera's Hey...

Great stuff

Just got home and saw towering clouds coming in. Possibly we'll have some rain tonight

And when it rains it pours

OTR: Ready to take some more lightning pics of the spire?

It's 8 inches by 10 inches film.

Typically you'd develop the negative, then scan it in using a high quality scanner (you can get good enough scanners for well under $1000).

Once it's scanned in, you can do pretty much anything you want with it.

He uses the same pano software as you do to re-stich if he needs to.
