I am sitting here waiting on a repeat of the strobe show which I would think will be a rehersal for the 2nd December (National Day) and the soft opening on 4th January.

WOW, it was like the milky way opening up with the sparkling strobes on the spire, and syncronised lighting on each tier level.

The only obvious way to show this spectacle is by video, but since I got it the show has stopped.

Maybe soon

It looks like the paintcolor of the latest part of the lake is different from the one in the lake that is already filled. Is it because of the water or are they changing the color?

Link to a crappy video quality vid of the BD strobes.

Feel free to edit/rotate/whatever to make viewable.

Software to rotate advice would be appreciated.

Blue sand huh? It's colored differently for a reason, but I can only hazard a guess that it is done to simulate depth.

Does anyone know the real reason?

Fantastic site photos. Gives more details than any other photos so far.
There are so many holes in the ground around BD. I am sure these holes were supposed to be buildings, before the financial crash (and cancellation of buildings).

This about sums up Emaar and their management ability in the above picture.

Lets landscape the BD grounds, build a park, flood the lake, but leave portakins and all the other shit in full view of the resident.

Just pretty much the same in The Old Town where rubbish dumps border residents living and Emaaar think this is acceptable.

Its easy enough to drop ones standards to that of a Delhi rubbish dump in one easy go if the management are allowed this mentality.

Remember its great to look at the BD, but imagine wakening up in the Armani hotel and having to look out your window at this crap.

It would be the last visit for many, and I would guess why Dubai is headline news this morning

Hi all.

Great updates guys.

Nice find Christos - those are some nice site aerials br ignimbrite.
I finally clued in as to what the flat area is on this side of the pool annex in his shots. It's going to be the tennis courts. Almost the only thing from the original site render that is still there.

Hi OTR.

Please elaborate on what you are talking about in the shots.
Portakins ?
Also where are the rubbish dumps you refer to in the Old Town and where would you like to see them ? How does garbage pick up work in Dubai ? Do you walk it to a dumpster or leave it at the curb for pick up ?
I'm interested to hear the bad along with all of the good.

Thanks OTR.

A bit of fun before I set off to buy another darn disk drive for this new PC...

Image of the Burj Dubai created from 10,000 images of the Burj Dubai (about 1,000 separate images each used 10 times) -

200 MegaPixel version of the above that you can zoom into -

Hi Fury,

Sorry that should have spelled portakabin, or what is probably known as a temporary site office.

However thats not the problem as the standards of most of the workforce is to drop the junk and never pick it up. I guess thats down to standards.

My main gripe is what they are dumping around the Old Town perimeter which is an absolute eyesore, in addition to being a breeding ground for flies etc.

This is garbage from all over downtown and although consists of unused site materials in the majority, the odd piece of human shit makes its way into the fold.

Talking to Emaar....they back it onto their subcontractors, where the sub contractors apply the same standard as a Delhi rubbish dump.

Moan over
