The Inauguration will be broadcasted at 19:35 (15:35-GMT) on all TV Channels in Dubai so you can watch Live TV on the net to see it (not sure if all countries can access the Live TV).

I'm refering to watching TV live over the Internet.

Nah, I guess the stream is restricted to Dubai or everywhere in UAE. Can anybody from outside UAE try to view the live stream?

Impression of ‘World Voices’ a piece by Spanish artist Jaume Plensa. (The Artist and Galerie Lelong New York/Images)

The residential lobby of the Burj Dubai will be dominated by an ambitious sculpture representing the diversity of the emirate's multicultural society. Or put another way: it's cymbals as symbols.

Occupying pride of place in the burj Dubai tower's residential lobby will be ‘World Voices', a specially commissioned piece by the world renowned artist Jaume Plensa. The Spaniard's installation in titanium and alloy was hand-picked by Emaar chairman Mohamed Alabbar following a year-long selection process led by the building's architect Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM) of Chicago.

World Voices will be composed of 196 cymbals that represent the 196 countries of the world; according to the artist, this is symbolic of Burj Dubai being a collaboration of people from across the globe.

"The residential lobby area of Burj Dubai will be a meeting place of diverse cultures and nationalities - a metaphor of the diversity of our global society," Plensa wrote in his proposal. "World Voices is an homage to this diversity and a celebration of life."

Cast in bronze and brass alloy and plated with 18-carat gold, the cymbals will be suspended horizontally onto titanium rods anchored at the bottom of two pools, evoking reeds in a lake. The cymbals will create a distinct timbre as they are gently struck by water dropping from the ceiling above.

SOM approached international and Middle East-based artists to submit concepts for the centrepiece of the residential lobby more than eighteen months ago, and Plensa's winning design was selected from a final shortlist of five. World Voices is the artist's largest permanent indoor installation and his first permanent commission in the Middle East.

"Art is central to the Burj Dubai project, not only as a visual statement but as a means to link cultures and communities," says Emaar chief Mohamed Alabbar. "Thousands of people from around the world have collaborated to achieve an iconic landmark, the world's tallest building.

To the opening of the Burj Dubai!
Thanks to all involved in this project.
Too bad I can't be there in person...I guess that's life...
Then again, maybe for the completion of the entire facility

Closest I can hope here in the US is to set a timer to record one of the major news stations at about the time of the ceremony and hope someone devotes coverage to it. Good Morning America did a special on the tower before so maybe they'll showcase some of it again tomorrow?

It doesn't seem like any US station in particular is carrying the opening (in a sense to be expected) but thank goodness there's Youtube these days.

It's not live but hopefully someone can capture the event in all its glory (and hopefully in HD)!

Gerald, you got a portable hard drive for that 5DII of yours?
At over two hours long, the event'd take a good 40GB or more to record all of it...
