It can be explained by the fact that they say 12000 WORKERS, when the board count all employees (including staff)

I mean of course there is a possibility it will be a little taller or shorter .. but IMO that is only a possibility if the CTBUH actually measures it and I wish they would, personally.

At least 2 Representatives from the CTBUH Height Committee will be at the ceremony

Many projects around the world openly state the planned height in many ways including publicly available developers permits late in the planning stage.
With the BD we have plans to go by much to the chagrin of the developer and without them we would have no idea and would have to go by what the press puts out - .

Over the years I haven't seen one document or drawing or print that shows any deviation from the plans' latest revision's height. The only thing that got me a little concerned is the revision not to have the planned top platform. After some thought I deemed it inconsequential :
1 - the floor of the planned platform was to be at 818.0
2 - there are no weld lines at the top of tier 30 so I am confident they welded the floor with the hatch down inside the top of the 818.0 meter high tier 30 rather than the floor being at 818 and extending tier 30 as the "railing".

IMO this thing is 818.0 as per the plans measured from the floor of the ground level to the top of tier 30.
The CTBUH's height to tip will include the 6.0 meter high concourse level beneath the ground level and the ~0.6 meter high beacons on the top. I posted some weeks ago on the new criteria they use for the start of the measurement and how the concourse level clearly meets the requirements so I won't go into it again.

I could be wrong - like everyone else here I didn't hang a half mile long tape measure down the side - but my educated guess is much more educated than most of the general public.

We should hopefully know in approx. 12 hours.

824.~6 meters

Hopefully we will get a correct floor count also.

It doesn't seem like any US station in particular is carrying the opening (in a sense to be expected) but thank goodness there's Youtube these days.

It's not live but hopefully someone can capture the event in all its glory (and hopefully in HD)!

Gerald, you got a portable hard drive for that 5DII of yours?
At over two hours long, the event'd take a good 40GB or more to record all of it...
I'm not planning on videoing the whole thing - plenty of people with far better kit than I have will be doing that. I'm going to be concentrating on photos.

I do have 32GB of compact flash cards on me though, so hopefully I won't run out of space

Ceremony does not start at 1700 UAE, as said above it starts at 20:00 UAE.
Going by the letter I received and as posted by Sale, it starts at 17.00 hours.

Main inauguration starts at 20.00 hours and will consist of fireworks etc, and I assume will include a tour of the building by the VIP's.

It always amazes me why so many variations on the schedule in particular for a main event like this.

GAWD, even the BD Metro station opened yesterday and no one was informed, radio stations were still saying opening today, until yesterdqays passengers called in.

Someone needs to step in and clear up this timing confusion, and fast!

Purely logically, the later timings would seem to make more sense - I can't see them projecting onto that screen, showing off the light-canons, and doing the first firework display before sunset.

Sorry to spam so much today, but so much info coming out

Prices for ob deck,

Walk in AED 210 (USD 57.00)
Que up AED 100 (USD 27.25)

I dont think there will be much call for the walk in AED 210 price.

I cant remember how much I paid for Sears, Tapai 101, Empire etc, anyone know what charges are now in comparison.

Oh and opens at 14.00 hours on 5th January.

I can assure you the timings I posted earlier are a 100% correct, I am assuming the confusion stems from the fact gates open to the 6,000 guests at 1700 UAE, so people have taken that to believe the ceremony starts then. It doesn't, the ceremony starts at 20:00 UAE, with the fireworks starting just before 22:00. All 10,000 of them.

Whatever the correct start time is, there is more than one fireworks show according to the description of the "three acts".
