#BurjDubai is trending at number 6 on Twitter worldwide.

(which is a big thing by the way)

Bloomberg News has had some spotty but decent coverage including an interview of the chief structural engineer who hints that taller buildings are in the works. But whatever comes, the Burj is the Greatest. Tower. Ever.

So, where are the Dubai forumers gonna set up to see this? OTR will sit on his balcony, I guess (lucky you!)

What about Imre, 234sale, Altin, Gerald and all the others? I am sitting at Starbucks right now (LG facing The Address) and I have to say it is a vibrant atmosphere out there... just had some lunch at Fatburgers in LG Food Court and lots of Media and Press people just came back from visiting the observation deck. Cameras everywhere.

I decided to have a relaxed picknick and watch the whole thing from that sandy area between Al Khail Road and Za'abeel where I took these pictures from.

I really hope I get to see great fireworks from that location and that I'll be able to snap them. Insha'allah

See you guys tomorrow, I am sure we'll have a sh*tload of pics on here by tomorrow

World's first Armani Hotel to open on March 18, 2010 in Dubai

Armani Hotel Dubai, the first hotel to open under the collaboration between Giorgio Armani S.p.A. and Emaar Properties PJSC, will be officially launched on March 18, 2010, it was announced today.

Exclusively housed in the distinctive Burj Dubai tower, the world's tallest building, the Armani Hotel Dubai is the first of a series of hotels, resorts and residences designed by Giorgio Armani to be opened around the globe and marks fashion maestro Giorgio Armani's debut in to the world of hospitality. Defined by its unique location, highest standards of aesthetics and service excellence, the Armani Hotel Dubai will be the most exclusive destination in the city.

The online bookings for the Armani Hotel Dubai will go live late January 2010, and prospective visitors can register online at www.armanihotels.com to receive further details about the hotel.

The opening of the Armani Hotel in Dubai will be followed by the launch of the Armani Hotel Milano. Other properties underway include the first Armani Resort, planned for Marrakech, and the first Armani Residences villas, for Marassi in Egypt. Further Armani hotels, resorts and residences will open subsequently in key international destinations such as New York, Tokyo, Shanghai and London.

Figuring out what time. Which broadcasting company will show it live. I just hope that at the end of the day. Some blessed soul will upload the entire ceremony in 720 HD. Then, I will truly be happy.

That is incorrect. If it is 8PM in Dubai it will be around 10AM Eastern Time (New York) and 4pm GMT (London)

I think it was mentioned earlier in the thread, but CNBC europe has a pretty good coverage on the opening of burj dubai, although they are constantly bringing economics into the discussion. Some woman claimed that the opening of this tower symbolized "the arabic economies liberation from western paternalism". A bit hyperbolic maybe? I don't know...
