What does Khalifa translate to?

The morning news programmes here in Australia have been covering the opening, but they're still calling it the 'Burj Dubai'.

Name changing decision was an very very very last minute decision - even the sign had been made and dispayed.
Its Burj Dubai for me. Moderators change the name please.

The People of Dubai love Sheikh Mohammed

http://www.dubaichronicle.com/news/t...mohammed-19012

H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid and members of the royal family leave Downtown Burj Dubai after the inauguration of Burj Dubai or Burj Khalifa. The crowds are applauding the sheikhs. Local men are protecting their cars with their bodies.

OMG, what a building.
Congrats, Dubai.
The fireworks on the tower itself were amazing, but they could have put some on the surrounding buildings.
As of the name, I really like how Burj Khalifa sounds, but I don't like the reasons why they renamed it, and especially because the whole world knows it as Burj Dubai.

Now Dubai has two icons

1. Burj al Arab
2. Burj "Khalifa"

And none has something in it's name which is related to it's location. Wait until AD helps Dubai to finance the construction of the Palm Jebel Ali, they will rename it to Palm Khalifa or so. What a shame that actually brothers can't help each other without wanting somethings from the other.

Why do you think that the name has changed? From the officials, I have seen it only once at the big screen. All of you produced the big echo from that, which also caused a new domain name registration, changes in the name of this thread and changes in wikipedia.

You changed the name, not them. Or? Should I tell this to gulfnews.com to change the name back?

In that case it wont be long before the name 'Dubai' is changed to AD. Extremely Annoyed,
