Oh.....this is a dilemma...I wouldn't give a gift $1.5b in the hearth of Dubai.....but I am not a Sheikh...
Anyway, this is the only option to retain the Burj Dubai name and this is what I like

Mohammed Alabbar was on ABC News in the US and he was just great. I'm so happy for him and Emaar with this amazing tower. I wish him and everyone involved nothing but the best!

Wikipedia PHOTO poor

Can anyone donate a better photo to Wikipedia? The current photo (taken with Canon 500D) looks poor, especially the sky is too noisy when viewed larger size. Also, the photo isn’t sharp probably due to shake.

Someone need to upload a better main photo on Wikipedia to replace this one (preferably taken with FF camera with sharper lens).

Yes, I thought about the things with BD on them, collectors items soon. I am going up to the OB deck today so will see what tyhe score is.
My recommendation is to buy up the water. Only 480 numbered bottles made according to the manager of the souvenir shop in Dubai Mall. There are some numbers in the 500's, but he was adamant that there were only 480.

199AED this week, 10 times that within a few months I reckon.

Maybe, but I don't think so. It is more souvenir than investment tool .
Nevertheless, how many are sold from 480? Maybe I would like to have one . Any price ideas of the fragile postage to Slovakia?

Certainly not an investment tool, but OK for a bit of fun. I remember the prices Enron branded stuff was being sold for on Ebay after they went bust. This is a similar kind of thing.

No doubt about it.

I am now browsing the first pages of this thread. What a progress (even in surroundings!):

Finally a little less viewers than 6000+ at this moment, took me 2 hours to read everything! But I'm very happy after yesterday, an overall positive feeling about all and some superb pics for the collection!

Now first of all:

I think BK is indeed a less nicer name than BD, but I can accept and live with it. Come on, we will always remember it as BD

This has been one of the greatest days for Dubai and the UAE, with worldwide interest in Dubai and finally positive news they had to make it special with a spectacular show. High cost but a good 'investment' for the future for sure!

Loser. All I can say is that the Dutch founded New York , so that makes us the greatest! (well for me it does )

Hmmm - I guess I have to change my sig for the first time ...

Fury, special congratulations from me to you, it was a special day for us skyscraperfanatics. I'm also curious how it will all end with the name as well as the height and everything.. Guess we will be present at the forums for another while!
