Dude, I am reading 30 pages now of the last 24 hours. At least 5 posts every page you are complaining about the name. You need someone to talk to?

Of course you are right. Wrong choice to change the name. We'll probably get used to it anyway.

I think the opening was done perfectly. Some people already mentioned that it might not be appropriate to set up a fireworks show like they did with Atlantis. But having firework going up and down a tower which is almost a kilometer high with music and the world largest fountain in front and still being disappointed. What more do you want? Celebrities jumping of the building? 20 million dollar worth of big fireworks in the surrounding area?

Now for the final stages of this beauty, finishing the interior.

For now a big for the world's highest building.

Well I don't really have anything particularly profound to say but I just want to add some of my thoughts to the flood of posts about this historic occasion - 652 replies in the last 24 hours from now! I will have to come back later to read all the information and check out all the fantastic photos and videos I haven't seen yet. Thankyou to everyone who has contributed, great stuff guys.

This really is quite an historic occasion, not just the tallest building, but the tallest structure ever built! By a long way! A few hours after I heard it, I think I now like the new name. Lets face it, Burj Dubai was a fairly ordinary, unimaginative name, albeit one we've all become so used to. I think Burj Khalifa will grow in popularity and give the tower a stronger identity.

I have taken over 1000 images of the Burj dubai, I live in the Burj Dubai Downtown.

I think the name is as mistake, when you are a true fan of something and somebody else changes the name of it, you would be pissed.

Star Wars will now be changed by its new owner to Super Wars.

Micheal Jackson Thriller will be called, the scary song.

I have been taking photos of the Burj for 3 years, so I think I have a right to be annoyed.

Builder of tallest tower aims higher still

"The builders of the Burj Khalifa are already lining up to secure multibillion-dollar contracts on the planned 1.1km Kingdom Tower in Saudi Arabia, the most likely successor to the title of tallest tower in the world."

Let the race Begin !
