I saw the Open ceremony and it was awesome (on tv of course), he Burj Dubai looked like it was burning down.

I struggle to think of a worse place to embark on such a project.

Yeah, it seems unlikely to me more are going to be built this tall. I don't know how a Saudi tower like the Burj Dubai would ever pay for itself. Most people who have money to buy units in these towers are not from Saudi Arabia or Dubai. And considering the debt bubble that exploded in Dubai, I don't see how the Saudi's would think building an even taller tower is a good idea.

Big new shadow on the Yarra - the Burj would dwarf Melbourne's 300m Eureka tower.

Australia's tallest building, the Q1 on the Gold Coast, is no match for the Burj.

The 305m Sydney Tower would be left far behind.

The Burj would even transform New York's famously sheer urban skyline.

Move the Burj to Paris and the 324m Eiffel Tower's impact is severely stunted. Vive la France!

Standing at a mere 80m, Godzilla would have a hard time bringing down the Burj.

On the name change....ALL towers change names...doesn't bother me much but I can certainly understand those who are upset. I am kinda miffed about the stupid new name for the Sears Tower.

Lastly, the most moronic statement in this entire thread, "Watch Iran blow it up"...where'd the hell you get that piece of lunacy? Yeah, sure...an Arab country would attack a neutral Arab country....that would go over really well. Yep, you must be smoking the really good stuff out of that crack pipe.
