"And in a spectacular blunder just months before the opening ceremony, which was attended by over 6,000 people, Samsung Besix Arabtec Joint Venture, which built the Burj, were forced to rush in Mick Flaherty after they realised they had forgotten to fit lights to the tip."

Are they serious?

We're in the process of opening up City Center, coincidently our very own Dubai World project, and we couldn't have opened up at a more lousy time in Las Vegas economic history.
.
Still, I'm surprised at the 1.5 Billion dollar pricetag of "The Burj"- as I call it.
City Center is 18 Million square feet and cost us 8.5 Billion or something like that.
How did you guys get such a good deal on such an iconic undertaking, The Burj?
In Dubai of all places?

I so love this view of the Burj Khalifa but I still prefer if it was called Burj Dubai...Congratulations!!!Dubai for building the greatest and the tallest tower of the world

Hi DXB, I always ask myself if the property actually exists for the agent or seller.

Why "above 95th floor", and not "on the 95th floor"

Surely if someone has an apartment to sell they know exactly where it is?

One of the Dubai property problems with so many scumbag agents.

Hi OTR i think;

He didn't send it to me personally so probably on a mailing list, and I think agents have access to databases where they can take apartments direct if you give the exact apartment number.

I get quite a lot of calls - from people I have never had contact with before syaing is this available, is it sold etc??

Thx, comparing the sq/ft quoted for a BK property with towers such as The Mansions, Standpoint etc, there must be a bundle of investors suffering financially that purchased off plan at a price considerably more than what the BK current price is?

Ie, Standpoint, was the off plan price facing away from the BK out to the Gulf not in excess of AED 5k and more per sq.ft?

The 828 is 4 meters higher than the 824 that I thought it was going to be. Both are height to architectural top. The level below the concourse is 4.0 meters but I can't see how they can include it.

The 830 is 5.4 meters higher than the 824.6 that I thought it was going to be. Both are height to tip.

The 2.0 meter difference between the arch. top and tip can be reasoned out fairly easily. Even when the now defunct top platform was to be added the floor was to be at tier 30 top elevation and now it still is with the current config. So instead of the beacons adding 0.6 - the "railing" and beacons add 2.0.

Still no official confirmation on the CTBUH site - it will probably take a week or 2 - frick ... I have a sneaking suspicion 828 will turn out to be 824 with 826 as the height to tip. I hope not - 830 sounds better.
Yeh, I hate inaccurate data as well, but this IS the worlds tallest building so I'll pretty sure the correct height will be established conclusively before too long. As the release from the CTBUH says..."The Burj Dubai has officially completed as the World’s Tallest Building. Announced by owner –developer Emaar at a height of 828 meters (2,717 feet), this height has still to be ratified by CTBUH upon receipt of official architectural drawings. The building’s official name has also changed to Burj Khalifa…"

So I guess there are a few possibilities, either:
- Emaar made some small changes to the existing plans which added a small amount of extra height at some point on the tower, which we weren't aware off, and it actually is 828m.
- On receipt of the official plans the CTBUH will tell Emaar they that building should indeed be listed at 824.6m, which would be pretty embarrasing for Emaar after annoucing the different height in such an extravagent manner.

I would've answered the question, but that 'kh' sound does not exist in any English word/pronounciation, so really can't explain unless orally. They would probably pronounce the 'kh' like the kh in khaki.

Burj Khalifa , Burj Dubai: Fact Sheet

Described as both a ‘Vertical City’ and ‘A Living Wonder,’ Burj Dubai, developed by Dubai-based Emaar Properties PJSC, is the world’s tallest building.

Rising gracefully from the desert, Burj Dubai honours the city with its extraordinary union of art, engineering and meticulous craftsmanship.

The focal point of Downtown Burj Dubai, the flagship community project of Emaar Properties, Burj Dubai stands as the world’s tallest building and its highest man-made structure.

lots of details here:
