I think they became official at the beginning of construction? Burj Dubai was kept a secret until opening night. We knew it was in the 818-830 range. Final height 828m.
Hi Guest.

Thanks for the lighting info.

As for when the last WTB's height became official - construction has to be mostly completed as the project has to be partially open for business before the height is official. I was wondering how long between them opening and the CTBUH ratifying the height claim. It has only been 11 days so far for the BK but I would (hope to) expect ratification soon.

The 828 still only remains a claim by the developer untill they send the appropriate drawings to the CTBUH for ratification. One would think Emaar thought about how the CTBUH would measure and so the claims for the 3 heights recognized will most likely not change but untill we hear official word they remain only claims.

Yup, tenants begin to move in in February. I am certain the 828m will remain. I can't imagine Emaar risking its reputation like that.

I was just looking for pictures of skyscrapers on Google and this came up:

Whoever made this has done a poor job in editing. Looks like Al Bawadi.

Taken by a friend over the new year period

PS. Fury, yes the festive lights are on (those alongside the edges of the setbacks and on top part of the spire), but not every night and often static.

I don't know if all the elevators are Toshiba - or just these two.

There's a video "World's fastest elevator on Youtube. It shows the display in these lifts showing position, height and speed of travel.

I did not see this display in the BK video - but every elevator has at least a display of where it is, and which way it is going. The lower deck of the BK lifts would not have the flashing lights etc, but would need the basic display.

Has anyone seen this yet ?

Has anyone else seen any other details about the BK lifts yet ?

Fury would be interested - as well as myself.

Thank you

The lower deck has no flashy interior, just cool reflective striped glass on all walls and serves as express for the corporate suites. Any other information you are looking for?

It's going to be very nice when there's water running through that.

Thanks for these fantastic photos, gerald.

It seems like the water will be going down the terraces. But, where will the water go?
I assume this is fresh water. So, it has to stay inside the pool right?
may be when the water reach the lowest level on one side, it will be pumped back to the highest level on the other side.
Is that how it is supposed to work?

+ the flowing water might also help with clearing the sand deposits at the base?
