Dude, that's 24,943 posts! Unfortunately, most of them are just crap. But, some of them are totally cool contributed by some really talented and bright ones (i.e., Imre, Fury, 234Sale, Cristos-Greece, PersianGirl, Gerald, Altin, Culwalla, and many others). There's a lot of great stuff on here in between the junk posts.

Cheers.

It is often mixed with different materials that compliment it better than those in Burj al arab (at least to my taste), and personally think the gold was used more to enhance the prestige of the hotel rather than enhance its beauty.

if i was offered gold taps for my bathroom (gold plated would be all i could afford) or chrome, it would be chrome all the way. Its probably a reason why gold coloured skyscrapers arnt that common or generally liked as well.
Thanks for explaining. Sorry for the rant.

Taj Mahal is a 1000 acre complex, pure white Marble, Precious stones and expensive material everywhere.
When I saw it last December in the morning, it was as bright as sun, and I fell backwards.
What an amazing sight. No photographs ever did justice to the beautiful architecture and art of the whole complex.

I have never seen anything like this in Europe.

Taj Mahal was built by a Muslim Emperor.

I would never say Taj is tacky because it is bright and has expensive material everywhere or because it is built by Muslims or because it is not European.

Not to turn this into a religious debate, but he wanted all Muslims gone. I am not for killing people is what I was getting at.

I just looked out of my window and I see the usual beautiful Burj Dubai lights are on. As usual it looks stunning!

Somebody posted something about the observation deck. I agree. in 5-10 years the view will be much better because of density and greenery expansion.

May be you can show us some photos of your home and village?
I would like to see what you consider "excellent".
Let us see your bathroom (or outhouse , whichever one you are using).
Let us see the opulence you are used to.

what are you basing this opinion on?
Most of the people who pass such opinions are bums who never left their villages.

Burj Al Arab is a world recognized 7 star hotel where people of style and substance prefer to stay at least for a day in their life times.
I've never been to this magnificent landmark. But I have read the opinions of people who have stayed there.

the whole point of the forums and message boards is to provide your own subjective opinion. Some people like pomp and circumstance, others like minimalist decor, some like gold, others like onyx. We can base our opinions of the Burj on our lifestyle and our preferences. Our preferences do not have to be based on societal norms and values. If it was, we would all be boring like you and never strive for better (i.e. the burj would have never been built to such an extent if it wasn't for different opinions). For example, i hate VDR architecture, but love Gehry. We all have preferences. Some people, especially "real" travelers don't see the need for having a 7 star hotel. If i'm going to Dubai, the only reason why I would be in my hotel room is to sleep, that it wouldn't be for a very long time since there is so much to see/do, just like in any city. I wouldn't pay for for having a gold sink because i would never use it and it would just be futile, in my humble opinion.

I think the Burj Dubai had to live up to the hype that was built to create such a residence and hotel. I like the BAA and I would stay there versus the BD/K. but really, $100 for a ticket to the observation deck? that's a bit much for observation, even if it is express... I guess they are trying to generate revenue to pay Abu Dhabi?

True. The official quotation of hotels only goes to 5 stars.
