Hi all.

Hi PG.
Another good article find.
Links to interviews of some of the contractors also - good stuff.

The article on how the burj was built is well written and contains both some inacuracies (22 million manhours) and some surprisingly acurate points (the highest lift has a top stop at 636.9 m.)(the Pega hoist goes up to section 18B of which the floor is at 636.9 as per the plans measure).

One thing I found very interesting is that the offices have an entrance not only on the concourse level but also level B1. I only have a print of level B1 parking layout that doesn't show the tower proper very well. From other drawings and renders there is an escalator going down to B1 from the concourse entrance. There is a revolving door on both the concourse and B1 levels for entrance to the offices.

I hadn't thought of this before. The entrance on level B1 like the one on the concourse opens to podium zone A and the waterfall sculpture is right in front of them. The sculpture sits on level B1 and sticks through an open hole up through the concourse level that the podium is level with.

Here is a crop showing what I mean.

This could very well be the answer I've been looking for in regards to the 828 height. Level B1 could fit the CTBUH criteria for the lowest significant open air entrance and it is 4.00 meters high (818.0 as per the plans measure from the ground level + 6.0 for the concourse + 4.0 for level B1 = 828.0). They don't normally use parking level entrances but in this case they may be able to :
- The BK has parking on levels B2, B1, concourse, and ground.
- the fact that the sculpture has an open air hole around it may fit the open air criteria.

This would be great news for 2 reasons :
1 - The heights for every level and section would still be as per the plans.
2 - The CTBUH will very likely state which level they are measuring from.

This idea makes me feel very hopefull - now if they would hurry up and announce the ratification ...

This leaves the 2.0 meter difference between the 828 height to arch top and the 830 height to tip.
I'm fairly certain this can be explained easily.

Here is the old top platform print I labelled to explain.

I love the heights and numbers aspect of this thing - does it show ?

This would be useful when he climbs:

I would certainly go and watch him climb it. I just hope he doesn't fall. He would really have to be spiderman to climb 828 metres of a monstrosity.

Hi Helghast.

Once the height is officially ratified I plan to make a final version of my BK plan and some other stuff providing there is no unanswerable questions.

I posted a few days ago but it was deleted .................
You have been finding some good stuff recently.
Thanks and keep up the good work.

That has to be a stacked image (if not a total 'shop). No way is that a single strike.

(and yes, I am very jealous that it's not mine!)

Well for now if you want a model go to the scale models section and reiayanami has made it in paper form, all you have to do is print, cut, and glue together along with the burj, rei has about 40 other buildings, and the section has more than 250. Go check it out!
