When I was there yesterday all items that had a little bit of resemblance to the tower had BD, trhere are no BK products on sale yet.
Not nice to hear that the merchandise is so poor. Anything for a quick buck huh!? Nothing new there though..

I'm very surprised to hear they still have BD merchandise there ... but then again, I wonder if they are waiting to launch all the BK stuff for when they hand over the Armani Residences? Or for the opening of the Armani Hotel? We'll know soon enough I suppose.

Yes, actually I vaguely remember hearing a figure similar to this sometime back..

Even if they are gold plated it's still quite tacky imo. Why would I want a gold plated BD/BK replica anyway?? lol I'd much prefer something else...maybe of crystal/glass?

Smith says Skidmore, Owings & Merrill is denying him credit for Burj Khalifa; SOM denies it

January 20, 2010

Adrian Smith, the chief architect of the Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest buidling, is charging that his former colleagues at the Chicago office of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill are denying him proper credit for the project. Some of this tension surfaced at the end of my profile of Smith, which appeared on the day before the Burj Khalifa was officially unveiled. But now the tension is out there for all to see in this column by Chicago Sun-Times real estate reporter David Roeder. And, unlike the skyscraper, it's not a pretty thing.

I think, whoever thought of hoisting a tube on the roof of a tall building to make it look taller deserve the credit. That was a brilliant idea. Usually people design buildings to be occupied and be useful and functional.

In the mile high tower, they may build a 2 story platform and then hoist a mile high tube on top to become the tallest building.

In California, researchers have been talking about nanotubes that can stretch all the way up to moon. Skidmore, here is a clever idea for you.

All the way to the moon eh?

First they have to find a way to make it stop spin around the planet I think, but yay for nanotubes

The point is that some day, ridiculously tall structures could be built using materials containing microscopic nanotubes.

Technical problems with the fountains last night, which meant they didn't start until about 9pm.

Sat around very patiently waiting, and then realised that it presented a rare opportunity...

(in all likelihood, most of my photos will be removed from this site over the coming weeks, but I thought I'd share this one for a few days)

Yeah...the two story tower with a mile high tube statement kinda sets the tone for the next one doesn't it? What a 'maroon'.

It's one of the best times to go since it's hot but manageable. February though is better. You will be able to swim and not have to be inside all day like you have between June to August. If you re interested in tennis there is also the Barclays Dubai Tennis Championships from
February 22-28 with Nadal, Federer and other superstars.

For more information about the tournament if you are a tennis lover, you can check this http://www.globaltennisforum.com.

Actually the nanotubes was not the funny part; it’s about building a tower to the moon that’s impossible and funny.
Nanotubes are real technology and they plan to make space elevators with it. No it's not sci-fi, this technology is already being tested on small scale and space elevators are seriously being researched.

So the nanotube part was actually not that funny...

Why you create a poll with the same building ?!
I choose the second one (Burj Khalifa), because it was the official name of the bigest skyscraper ever build on Earth.
