Where did you got that info from? We have heard only of elevators travelling at 10 m/s only.

... and of course there is no elevator that goes from bottom to the top (Floor 162)

Some websites and even wiki show the elevators to be traveling at 18m/s. I checked with gulf news and they have it at 10m/s. I showed stats from Wiki and on this website they have it descending at 18m/s http://www.lift.co.uk/blog/the-eleva...o-new-heights/

Official site BurjKhalifa.ae states:

"Begin your vertical ascent to the observation deck in a high-speed elevator, travelling at 10 metres per second."

Nothing to find about the 'normal' elevators tough.

Well, in wikipedia about Burj Khalifa says about the elevators:
Quote:
World's fastest elevators at speed of 64 km/h (40 mph) or 18 m/s (59 ft/s)[19] (previously Taipei 101 – 16.83 m/s)

The only thing that gets me is the fact that the observation deck is called "At the Top."

If that was here in the US, there'd be at least 10 lawsuits over the fact that you're nowhere near the top, haha.

Love all of the pics. (: But, a few questions... Does anyone have lobby/entrance/interior/penthouse pictures of the tower? Or know what page would have good, high quality photos? Secondly, is there speed limits in Dubai? Can I go 175 km/h if I want to on the highway? Thanks! (:

Some interior pictures here:

http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showth...4013&page=1220 (Post 24388)

and here:

http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showth...4013&page=1178 (Post 23556)

and here:

http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showth...4013&page=1159 (Post 23172 - click to enlarge lobby renders)

and last but not least, more of Imre's pictures of the interior:

I i will check for more pages to find some if there are any.

And about the speeding limit, maximum is 120km/hr minimum is 60km/hr. You could drive a little bit faster than 120km/hr but at your own risk. You should know where the speed cameras are located.

Bookings for Armani hotel in Dubai now live

Tuesday, 2 February 2010

Italian fashion brand Armani announced that it is now accepting bookings for its first hotel, which opens March 18 in Dubai.

The luxe label, which is still managed by its founder Giorgio Armani and currently runs a variety of fashion lines as well as home accessory boutiques, spas, and cafés, has chosen the just-opened Burj Khalifa (formerly Burj Dubai) - the world's largest tower - to host its first venture into hospitality.

More hotels are planned for Milan, New York, Tokyo, Shanghai and London, although no dates have been specified at this point. The first Armani Resort is due to open in Marrakech, while 'Residency Villas' are under construction in Marassi (Egypt). Overall, Armani "plans to open at least ten hotels and resorts within the next ten years," according to a statement.

The brand joins the likes of Versace, Christian Lacroix, and Missoni which have all opened fashion hotels in the past, with the latter planning openings in Brazil and South Africa.

More information on Armani's Dubai hotel and real-time booking can be found online.
