so you can see why Russians are concerned about high cost of anything.

But, tourists who come to Moscow will be shocked to find only very expensive hotels and restaurants. Still 25 million come every year to look at red square and museums in st. petersburg.
My friend who had an end of frond, villa on Palm Jumeriah had a bidding war between an American and Russian.. The Russian won...

That Russian was not concerned about the price, its what he wanted.

Dubai is for select millionaires, not for millions of tourists wanting a cheap break.

Yeah you really can't talk about a place too much unless you have been there for awhile. Way too many assumptions that are just simply not true. Texas has a long list of detractors, but until you have lived here, you don't know anything about what it's like.

Does BK have LEED certification ? Fury would know.

Does the BK have LEED qualification ? - or has its developers applied for it ?

This is another point I have never seen discusssed on this board.

IS LEED active in the UAE ?

Fury would know about this, and so would the CTBUH.

Thank you

Nice picture Sale. Did you see any flare or anything when you snapped it? Or did it appear in the photo after you snapped it?

Whatever it is, it makes the picture unique!

Dubai doesn't build dozens of hotels, thousands of apartments and a whole amusement park for select millionaires.

There was a light post close to the camera, while camera was focused on a far away object (BK). The flare comes from out of focus light post.

Is it not like most other destinations in that it has some affordable living as well as the elite places? A city for the super rich only? Doubt it.

I suggest you stop posting rubbish, get a ticket and come for an evening.

The Ibis hotel next to the international confrence center is $100 a night, 3 minutes taxi from the burj.

From the prices I've seen it's pretty cheap, at least by European middle class standards.

It is not a light post either. Maybe a circling plane that happened to turn towards Sale's direction while he was taking the photo?

No. Dubai is a brutal dictatorship in which the police throw you in jail for making too many off-topic posts.

The piece is missing indeed ... afterall the tower is far from being completed.

If they wanted that they would have build it. The fact is they don't want anything to be build nearby, nothing that can take away from the grandeur of the tower ... so rest assured nothing tall wil be ever build nearby.

Not to me. Dark wood works very well with stainless steel and glass, and there are many such architectural and design implementations

Yes sure, that's a light post

Not enough, you have to live at least 10 (like me)

Hi Library.

You got me on this one. I have no info on this but I couldn't find anything with a quick search so I don't believe it is. No idea if they applied for it either. Perhaps whoami or isicman would be able to enlighten us.

Hi Sale.

I'm sure you don't mean to sound like everyone has the time or funds to just jump on a plane and go check out Dubai for a night - right ?
I'm sure your comments were directed to Moscowboy for his sometimes off the cuff comments. If it wasn't for the net I along with millions of others would have never heard of Dubai nor be able to enjoy all the updates from you and all the other photogs.

I think the Burj Khalifa/Dubai has nothing about the LEED, first project in Dubai is the Dubai Maritime City where we can find 'LEED' towers , one of my friend was working there and he said all towers must have a LEED certificate but the problem everything is ON HOLD , so the LEED is dead in Dubai now

few examples:

Verde Tower
