BURJ KHALIFA RUBBISH TIPPING

THIS IS THE VIEW FROM BURJ KHALIFA

Delivered today fresh from The Burj Khalifa, sewage, food waste, stagnant water, rubbish.
As an investor in The Downtown area this is against my better judgement to post such photos, but my complaints to either Emaar or their subcontractors does not receive any response.

Is this the only way to get any action in Dubai by exposing the ignorance of the few who are incapable of recognizing that the standard of living that was advertised when we purchased our property, is exactly what we expect.
We did not expect the mosque shown on the downtown model to turn out as a DEWA station, nor did we expect our community swimming pool and gym to be turned out as a nursery school.

The images below that have attracted a swarm of flies and mosquitos making balcony life unbearable.
This rubbish is delivered at around 2am when we are asleep until the mountain of rubbish reaches a height that they cannot get the tipper trucks to enter.

In this one food waste, whiskey bottles and scores of flies can be seen
Is giving the workforce whiskey while they work some type of bonus scheme?

Another rubbish tip starts at another area of the Old Town, just because they can, just because there are no controls.

Another few hundred tonnes of sand are delivered just to make sure that the balcony life can only be enjoyed by those with skin like a lizard.
The sand is stored (blown) only yards from peoples homes.

Anything and everything not required on the Burj Khalifa is dumped within yards of peoples homes. There are no rules as to what is dumped here

I have promoted Emaar to show their best, but this no care and health hazard attitude only deserves to be fully exposed where it can.

I will not show the dumped sewage images as I consider the images as obscene, but bear in mind this is all happening only 20 metres from The Old Town nursery and even less from peoples homes.

Its a pity the Emaar will not action requests and this is the only retort that residents have

Thank you for sharing OTR. The fountains look great even when not in full power.

The garbage and rubbish in front of some spaces is unacceptable! I am appalled at the images. I thought Emaar was better than that. They should fix this and stop giving workers whiskey. Maybe that is why people get stuck in the elevator.

Burj Khalifa gold coin plan for legal tender

by Elsa Baxter on Thursday, 11 February 2010

COIN PLAN: Dubai is planning to introduce a gold coin as legal tender, like the American Eagle and South African Krugerrand pictured. (Getty Images)

Dubai officials plan to introduce a gold coin with the face of the UAE President on one side and the Burj Khalifa on the other as legal tender.

If approved, it will be the first of its kind in the Middle East, the Khaleej Times reports on Thursday.

We are confident that this design represents the face of modern UAE and its aspirations, the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC) executive chairman Ahmed bin Sulayem told the paper.

Gold commemorative coins have been brought out in the emirates in the past, including the Visions of Dubai series in 2007.

Gold coins do exist as legal tender in other countries, like the Australian Nugget and the South African Krugerrand.

Wow, that is awesome! Are we talk about a wide spread use? (Ex: 1 AED is wide spread)

Actually, Emaar is not a part of Dubai World. They are separate companies.

Hi all.

Still no news on the height ratification.
40 days since the height claim was made.
As I posted before we have unofficial confirmation of the height to arch. top and where it's measured from (but not to). Also highest occupied floor and its height are unofficially confirmed but not the height to tip nor the official floorcount.
- The height to arch. top of 828.0 is measured from level B1 but at the top there is some question whether it measures to the floor of the top platform or the top of the guardrail. IMO it is to the top of the guardrail.
- The height to tip is in question and hinges on where the height to arch. top is measured to obviously. IMO it is 828.6 that includes the aircraft warning lights that are approx. 0.6 above the top of the guardrail. There is speculation the height to tip is 830.0 based on the idea that the floor of the top platform is the arch. top. This is not the case IMO.
- The official floorcount is in question on a couple of points.
1 - Given the concourse level and B1 are included in all 3 height measurements should they be included ? Or just the concourse as B1 is technically an underground level ?
2 - Do all the mezzanine levels fit the criteria to be included (155 mezz., 158 mezz., 160 mezz. 1, 160 mezz. 2 or 160 mezz. 3) ?

The delay by Emaar in getting the proper drawings to the CTBUH is part and percel to all the secrecy surrounding this project. I mean I know they never pulled the 828 height to arch. top out of their ass as the concourse and B1 do add 10.0 to the 818.0 as per the plans - so what's the hold up ?

C'mon Emaar - get the lead out already ...

The face value will probably be irrelevant, because most likely they'll be sold with some kind of premium above the intrinsic value of the metal they contain. And that, of course, will be above face value.

Dubai's Burj Khalifa to Reopen Feb. 14 After Viewing Deck Shuts

Dubai's Burj Khalifa to Reopen Feb. 14 After Viewing Deck Shuts

Feb. 10 (Bloomberg) -- Burj Khalifia, the world’s tallest tower, will reopen on Feb. 14 following the closure of its 124th- floor observation deck, according to ticket sellers for the Dubai attraction.

Ambulances were sent to the tower on Feb. 6 to treat 12 people who had been stranded in a stalled elevator and “dozens” of others who had been trapped on the observation platform, according to Fahad Al Zarouni, deputy director of operations at Dubai’s Center for Ambulance Services. None were hospitalized.

Two days after the incident, developer Emaar Properties PJSC said in a statement that the observation deck had been shut for maintenance due to “technical issues” involving power supply. The “At the Top” platform is the only part of Burj Khalifa in use so far, following its official opening on Jan. 4. Emaar, 31 percent owned by Dubai’s government, didn’t mention the stalled elevator or stranded visitors in its statement.

People on the observation deck heard what sounded like a small explosion and saw dust that looked like smoke seeping through the elevator doors, the Associated Press reported yesterday, citing interviews with visitors. Rescue crews had to pry open the doors of the elevator after it became stuck for about 45 minutes between floors and everyone was eventually taken down uninjured in a freight elevator, AP said.

Emaar has issued no further statement about the closures. An external spokeswoman who declined to be named, citing company policy, said today that the developer has nothing to add at this time. The company hasn’t given a possible reopening date or said whether the fault would delay the opening of other parts of the building including the a hotel designed by Giorgio Armani.

Apartments, Hotel

Burj Khalifa is 828 meters (2,717 feet) high and cost $1.5 billion to build. The tower takes its name from Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, ruler of neighboring Abu Dhabi and president of the United Arab Emirates. The structure, which includes 37 floors of office space, 1,044 apartments and 160 hotel rooms is being opened in stages.

The elevators are provided by United Technologies Corp.’s Otis unit. One of them has the world’s longest travel distance at 504 meters and the double-deck cars have the fastest travel time at 10 meters a second, according to the company’s Web site.

Danielle Grove, a 24-year-old German tourist turned away from the tower today, said she plans to return on the 14th.

“I’m glad we will be still here when it reopens,” she said, standing by the white counters bearing the observation deck’s “At the Top” logo. “This could’ve happened in Germany or anywhere else. It doesn’t scare me because I don’t think it was serious and obviously no one was hurt.”

Latifa Al Otaibi was less relaxed. “That is so scary,” she said after accompanying two teenaged sons to the tower for a refund. Her son Abdul Aziz said he was disappointed to hear the tower won’t open until after the family leaves and said he thought the elevator is “much safer” than being on an airplane.

A notice on the Web site for the observation deck says ticket sales “are temporarily on hold due to maintenance at the attraction.”
