Saw that - very impressive. But they did have a motorized head. I do mine manually!

Having said that, the Gigapan Epic Pro is released next month. I plan to get my hands on one, but fear it will be too late to do a monster one of Dubai since the humidity will be too high.

Seems wrong to me that Dubai doesn't hold the gigapixel record. Perhaps Dubai Municipality fancy getting in touch

You read the E and then the R?

BTW, I finally got my wide-angle lens so I'll not have to go far to be able to put the tower in a single frame.

We should have a lense sharing scheme where we can club our gear in one locked box at the BK lake.

What really happened - and when it is getting fixed ?

Talking about a gear motor - a fast elevator has a gearless traction motor - this being the case - would it be a door motor or gear assembly that's the problem ? A double-deck elevator isn't exactly new technology - they've been in use in North America for over 35 years - and maybe a lot longer than that.

The reason I said earlier that these lifts serve everything from level 112 and up is: The top cab serves only the OB-deck - true, as Altin noted, but, the bottom cab serves level 123 which is a skylobby with connections to levels 123 down to 112 from one lift group, and from 123 up to 154 with the other group of lifts. It's a big part of the building affected.

They ought to have spare parts for these machines available if not on site - at least somewhere in the City - to be able to fix problems quickly.

Who really knows what's going on with the OB-deck, and when it's getting open again - or will the other parts of the Burj open first ?

As to the "opening up more of the entrance", what's this about, and is there anything to see - more landscaping and water features etc.--it's outdoors.

We havn't seen very much news lately - so what's going on ?

Thank you

Hi all.

As an addition to Library's post ...

First, Library has the elevator scheme down pat. The double decker cabs where the top cab serves the OD and the bottom serving level 123 skylobby is a good way to save space with less shafts. They had even considered triple deckers.

This reason for the OD closure being a cooked elevator motor may be the case for one shaft. So why couldn't they run limited public access with the other shaft ?
Now I can see them using one to take people up to the OD and the other to take them down when both are running and perhaps there are legal issues with having only one running. I don't know but if not, they could still have the deck open with half the visiters. I think the early reports of power issues may have some merit.

Now that the first handovers aren't untill April or later and surely the offices will be later I'm guessing, access to 123 skylobby isn't an issue right now. They can use the other shaft anyway (if it is even working ...).

Hello there !

Is anyone able to post some consistent photos with the interior....cause so far - if I'm not mistaking - all we've seen were computer generated images of the interior and some early / during the construction shots.

Thank You !
