You engineer guys really know what you are talking about, so maybe you can help me.

I live about 400 metres from the base of the BK. Will it hit me if it falls?

How can I force it in the opposite direction like a lumberjack would do?

Will the explosives break my windows.

I need expert responses please.

Well, in that case you are totally doomed, but your windows will stay just as they are right now tho so don't you worry about the glass. Microbes are something you should be aware of. Those little bastards will sneak through your windows, even if closed, and will most likely penetrate your skull leaving you in a state so called vegetable. But if you are cool enough maybe they will plant you somewhere nearby the base you are referring to. You would finally be able to run rampant without even caring, best of luck and watch out for lumberjacks!

True, but I do give them credit. After all, a building this massive would not only be very time consuming to reproduce in 3D, but to run the physics calculations on everything in the entire structure is difficult to render. But fear not, this is the only building where they really screwed up, almost all of them are quite professional and well done. Like these:

(Although I do admit, the Space Needle looks a bit off).

Yes, this is a real show, it's on the History channel. It might not be aired that much in the next few months because they just finished up season 2.

I was going through some of my pic's of the Burj K,
and this pic got my curiosity.
Fury do you by any chance have any info about a higher design scheme that was proposed ? or tested ?

Helghast - I recall Fury or someone else stating at one point that during design, a height of 1,011 meters had been approved for construction. It was already too far along though to make the changes to the building that that height would've required.

Hi guys.

I have not heard (anything official) nor stated anything about a 1011 height. I vaguely recall a rumor on the forum about the kilo but there was nothing to substantiate the claim.

I have read from a few sources that the foundations could support a height of 950 meters. Helghast that could very well be the max. height tested by RWDI. I read through the articles I have on the wind tunnel testing but found nothing on a higher design - sorry.

I am very happy with 829.842.
Awesome ...

Emaar to observe ‘Earth Hour’ on March 27

• Burj Khalifa, The Dubai Mall and The Address hotels to switch off lights
• Emaar’s communities and schools to partner in the global initiative

Dubai, UAE; March 24, 2010: Emaar Properties, the global property developer and provider of premier lifestyle, will observe ‘Earth Hour,’ the global initiative against climate change, by switching off the exterior lights of its landmark developments in Dubai on March 27 from 8.30pm to 9.30pm.

Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building; The Dubai Mall, the world’s largest shopping centre; and The Address hotels - the flagship hotel brand of Emaar - in Downtown Dubai, Dubai Marina and Emirates Living, will add to the cause of conserving energy by switching off the lights. The performance of The Dubai Fountain, the world’s tallest performing fountain, will also resume after Earth Hour.

Mr Ahmad Al Matrooshi, Managing Director – UAE, Emaar Properties, said that the company’s support to Earth Hour highlights its commitment to partner in initiatives that promote environmental awareness and sustainable development.
