Hi all.

Hi Altin.

Thanx man.

The lightning rod is clearly up there - a great angle showing that.
The shot from Gerald / posted by Sale (I think) from the 6th of this month taken from the SE also showed it but just barely. That shot would have hidden the sonimometer as it is on the West axis.
Your shot taken from the NW should show the sonimometer on the right side of the beacon facing us. It is 325 mm. higher than the beacons. I don't think the thing is up there yet.

No biggie as the lightning rod is over a meter taller than the beacons and is the top measurement for the official height to tip of 829.842 meters.

Yes, this is a real show, it's on the History channel. It might not be aired that much in the next few months because they just finished up season 2.
Actually NOT true. Had he watched the show and paid attention they explained why the tower fell that way in their scenario. Truth is the odds are against it falling that way, but it is very possible given their scenario.

Fury - Sorry to toss out an incorrect theory then. I swear I had read something that you or someone else posted though that had suggested, at least in approval sense, a taller 1KM+ height. Whether the testing or actual building could even support that figure are very different things .

I only brought it up since it was asked. I'm also very happy with the 829 / 830 figures.

Hi all.

Ooops - sorry Gerald - forgot about that shot from the 16th. Great shot of the lightning rod.

That shot from the North side would still hide the sonimometer behind the beacon on the right. We should be able to see it from Altin's shot from the NW so I think it is not up there yet.

Burj top Architects have confirmed in interviews that they have tested in the wind tunnel models of higher heights then what they settled for, however they declined to say if they were 1 km or taller.

It wasn't Smith if I well remember, probably the guy with the Greek name that I can't remember now.

That's a single shot. 7D with the 100-400mm lens at 400mm (effectively a 640mm lens), taken from the Boulevard.

Sticking the same lens on a 7D as opposed to the 5D gives you a higher pixel density, so it absolutely makes more sense to do panoramas with it if you're after more detail (which of course you are when doing gigapixels!).

Next gigapixel will be done with the 7D and hopefully the 500mm lens (effective 800mm) if I can persuade Canon ME to lend it to me again

(Sand dune shot is most excellent by the way )

Normally these competitions want to steal your photo's so they can sell them.
