The Hotel is under testing with voluntiers. A forumer (not very active lately) that works in the Hotel business has stayed there and said it was very nice.

I think the Ryugyong Hotel is the number one vacant building in the world. Given the economic crisis, a lot of buildings/houses around the world became vacant.

Burj Khalifa has been sold out in large volume before construction began when prices were reasonable. Expect this to be filled soon. Things are getting better in the real estate business.

Hi all.

Hi OTR.
Good to hear the OD is back in operation.

Here are just a few of bertrands shots from Picasa - Helghast posted the link a page or 2 ago. These are from 10 01 11 and 13. Click on small ones for full size.

The Armani hotel sign

Podium zone A - the office entrance podium. We can see the water sculpture that sticks up through the large opening from level B1 below allowing B1 to fit the open air criteria, helping allow it to be the level the CTBUH measures the heights from.

Here are some showing the fit and finish of the cladding. These are taken from the podium. One shows the BMU riding its rails.

Here are some showing lower terraces and one higher terrace.

Here are some from the upper tiers showing some good angles showing the structural members, etc. We can also see the festival lighting in some.

Here is one from inside the pinnacle.

Lastly.
The restroom is ready for the much ballyhooed upper OD. It will be opening soon.

The "bathroom wall" art is an added bonus ...

- A joke ...
Sarcasm on the earlier baseless talk of a higher OD.
The shot of the worker "bathroom" worked great for that purpose (I thought ...)

Burj Khalifa harnesses the sun's power

The world’s tallest building is using solar panels to heat 140,000 litres of water every day that is being used by its residents, its developer Emaar said on Sunday.

The solar panels on the Burj Khalifa are expected to save the equivalent to 3,200 kilo watts per day and 690MWh of energy every year.

Other energy saving initiatives on the building, which opened in January 4, include a system to collect condensation from the air conditioning equipment which when operational will provide 15 million gallons of water a year.

Last month, Burj Khalifa was plunged into darkness to observe Earth Hour, the global initiative against climate change.

Arab states have been critised for not doing enough to push renewable energy products despite being some of the biggest emitters of greenhouse gases on a per capita basis. Carbon dioxide emissions in the region are increasing at one of the fastest rates in the world, nearly doubling between 1990 and 2003, according to a UN Arab Human Development Report

Masdar, the Abu Dhabi energy firm, plans to invest $15bn in renewable energy projects while Egypt plans on supplying 20 percent of its energy needs from renewable sources by 2020.

Hi OTR - any idea exactly when it reopened? Your report is almost certainly the first anywhere, and the papers are being their usual inept selves!

I asked om my way up on the lift as there had been no announcement and they told me midday yesterday.

I was having a meal in "More" and saw the small que.

Some people had bought the 400 AED ticket in the morning for the evening visit, but no way was that required, myself, I bought a AED 100 ticket on the spot.

You should make more of that opportunity though.

Make some rules up. Preferably that include getting blow-jobs included in the ticket price.
