I always enjoy the pics taken from old town, the arches, the calm water, perfect for contrast to burj!

Hi all.

Some great shots Altin.

A walk down memory lane ...
Shots are from the OD walkway - can't recall the photog from Picasa, sorry.

Here are 2 superimposed shots of the early piling work taken from different angles. I don't know if one is a reflection picked up by the camera or not. I would like to see them individually though.

I dated them at 03 12 and 04 02. The earlier shot is interesting in that there are lights set up for the excavation.

Here is a great shot showing workers laying rebar for the raft. I dated it 04 08 as the raft pours were in 04 09.

We get a good view of the 3.7 meter thick raft. A couple of the 194 piles can be seen with their rebar sticking up, tying them into the raft.

Here is a great shot showing the base of the pinnacle pipe during jacking.

We can see the clamped cables that the strand jacks pull on to jack the pipe and the robust base the pipe sits on.

I hope there will be more visiters to the OD that take shots of these pics that line the walkway on the way to the elevator.
There are some good ones.

The hotel opening date was to be 10 04 22 from a few months ago. Now the latest has it at 10 04 21. Hopefully there will be no more delays.
The handovers of the Armani residences are to begin in April as per the latest word. The rest of the handovers were to start in April also but since the Armani residences were delayed to April I imagine the other 4 areas will begin in May.

Thanks, but maybe more then the lens is the fact that I brought the tripod with me.

For catching up again on this thread, it's so wonderful to see amazing shots in the past few weeks.

@ Gerald - WOW nice video and lens. 600mm or the 100-400 push/pull? Like I said on the video, it's nice to see just how capable the 5DII is with a good lens mounted. Automatic tripod is really cool.

@ Imre - Congrats on having your site be the "official" one. I so screenshotted that.

@ AltinD - It's amazing just how much difference a tripod makes when you can't hand hold or don't have a fast lens. I don't know... maybe your camera is comparatively basic compared to Gerald's but you're taking shots that are totally professional looking - Great job! Love those lit symetrical boulevards at the Palace Hotel (I think).

It seems like Emaar is listening to us who want a higher OB deck; they installed a bathroom Now just to build the rest of the deck... haha!

You guys are making my photographer self want to come to Dubai, badly. Might as well start working towards that ticket now.

To be honest, that picture does not look real. It looks like a rendering to me. Hopefully, I'm proven wrong.
