Burj Khalifa homes enter rental market

Real estate agencies began marketing the first 60 units in the Burj Khalifa this week

Dubai: Prospective tenants got a feeling for annual rents in the world's tallest tower, as real estate agencies began marketing the first 60 units in the Burj Khalifa this week.

The asking price for a studio on a lower floor with sea view currently stands at Dh140,000, according to real estate ads published yesterday.

One-bedroom units range between Dh180,000 and Dh260,000, and two-bedroom apartments start at Dh300,000.

Units with a view of Dubai Fountain on a lower floor are offered generally cheaper - relatively speaking, of course - than those with sea view on higher floors.

"The asking prices are a first test of how the market responds," said Joe Le Beau, property agent with Elysian Real Estate.

"We are still in the early steps, and this is a very exclusive piece of real estate."

Apartment viewings have to be booked well in advance due to strict security regulations at the tower.

"At the moment, it can be a nightmare to get access to the building," an agent told Gulf News.

Hi guys.

Here are the 95 pics from my 2004 construction folder zipped into 1 file - 18 megs. Post any you have a question as to where the site is, as some are from well before there is a hoarded site. The first few are a progression of Dubai then SZR before focusing on the BK site.

BK_2004_pics.zip (18 MB)

I only wish I had many more from the earliest work on this project. I know there are more out there as we got a teaser from a fellow forumer who has lots - but alas he has never posted any more or uploaded a pile of them to Imagehost. To me it is like reading the first pages of a book. They are just as important as the rest of the book and to me just as interesting.

Hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

On another note...
Nice find PG. Something I've been wondering for a while now to anyone in the know. Reading some articles that state the price of certain suites seem to suggest they are to be purchased like a condo and others clearly state rentals. Are any to be purchased or are all rentals and what areas if both ?
Thanx.

Hi KSA.

I'm sure I have a vid of this guy somewhere but I couldn't find it in the rather large pile of BK vids I have.
So onward to my daily rounds and what pops up .... another vid from this same guy where they are sealing the lights they installed earlier in the pinnacle.

here's the link as I still haven't figured out how to embed youtube vids here ...

that pool really is a silly shape!! Who can swum into that silly corner? Absolutely no point to it apart from looking all artsy and matching the shape of the building - not practical!

It's a plunge pool not a swimming one.

I think you misunderstood the term. A "plunge" or "splash" pool is typically very small, and not suitable for swimming laps. It's like a cold jacuzzi, without the bubbles.

Thanks Pat for the embed heads up - I knew about the youtube tags but tried many combinations between them just not the right one.

I'll ask again ...
Does anyone know if all the residential units are rentals or if any are purchased like condos ?
