Hi Altin.
Thanks for the info.
I think I know the ones you refer to - cool they use them weekly.

I'm sure they also use these often as I have many pics from various dates of them.

pic removed at photogs request

Or these ?

Hi Fury -

Could you please remove the middle picture - it's one of mine, and should not be rehosted anywhere.

Thanks.

There are only so many hours in the day that I'm willing to devote to sending out DMCA takedown notices to websites' hosting companies.

I don't have a problem with my photos being on SSC per se - I used to willingly upload dozens every week, but the problem is, dickwad ****wits from real estate agencies use sites like this to misappropriate intellectual property that they then use to promote their companies in adverts on sites such as Dubizzle - who don't give a shit about it until their hosting company tells them to remove the images from their website.

In addition to the mindless retards from property agencies and online classified advertising websites, you get the pricks running scraper websites who trawl the Internet for content that they can rip-off in an attempt to make money off the back of banner adverts and Google AdSense. I'm currently in the process of getting one of these companies put out of business because close to 30% of the images in their galleries were taken by me.

All of which, as I have politely explained, takes up far too much of my time that could otherwise be spent on more useful and enjoyable activities such as going out taking more photographs, or perhaps staying at home masturbating.

So. If it's OK with you, if I see one of my images here, I'll ask kindly for it to be removed.

That is OK with you, yeah?

That wasn't answer to my question, but never mind. I really do appreciate that you are so kindly this time, and don't want to sue Fury That would be lost to the forum..

The first ones are default lighting scheme and are almost on permanently, but I have noticed that on Friday they seams to switch them off.

The other ones you posted were temporary and part of the opening ceremony show AFAIK. Never seen any similar lighting used.

Hi Gerald.

As you said you used to give us many shots almost daily. As such I have many of your shots - but needless to say I don't label any of the more than 70,000 skyscraper shots I have with the name of the photog when I get them. My shots are dated only and I just look through quickly and find some to use as examples to illistrate the point I'm trying to make. They could be yours or anyone's as I only dload what is (was) in the public domain. I do credit the photog if I just obtained the shot and post it, but after that the only way I know the photog is from a watermark.

That being said I have removed the pic at your request and I fully understand and agree with your reasoning. Just let me know if I happen to use any of yours in my future posts and I will remove them also.

Hi Pat.
Thanks for saying it would be the forums loss if my ass got sued off ...
It's not an issue for 2 reasons though ...
1 - the shots i have were obtained from the public domain and I make zero money from anything I do with them - which is all on the forums.
2 - you can't get blood from a stone ...

Hi Altin.
That is a shame if they don't use the powerfull spotlights again. I have a feeling they will on special occasions though.

EDIT
Hi Imre.
Thanks for showing some of your shots to help get my point across.
I should try to find some of yours to use next time.

Just need to google, "burj khalifa fireworks" , "burj khalifa opening ceremony" or similar and you will find many pics from different people.

Fury, do you have any info about the total cost of the spire ?

Just to correct you though, there's no such thing as "from the public domain".

Hi Imre.
I'm pretty sure I have most of the pics out there as I do daily rounds to gather them up.
I have an old money excel but it doesn't break out the spire or pinnacle.

Hi Gerald.
I'm not sure of the correct term ... I just mean I get them from a publicly accessible place - forums, flickr, picasa, etc. I only collect them for my own use as I am interested in many projects from around the globe. I only post to show some good ones or to illustrate a point I'm making.

They are setting up spotlights right now around the base of the BK in addition to setting up some wiring on the lower setbacks.

Looks like some lighting event pre Ramadan about to kick off?

Erm, not sure I understand. I simply asked for my photo to be removed, which Fury kindly did.

The "public domain" thing was simply to correct a misconception. I don't have an issue with Fury having my pictures on his hard drive for personal use, but I object to them being reposted on the web where they can be "lifted" by others for effectively commercial use.

Hey, although I'm more than half a year late, I found a couple of pics of the Burj Khalifa opening. We were lucky, because I didn't know that the opening ceremony was scheduled to January 4. But when we walked out of the Dubai Mall, saw incredible crowds of people everywhere, we knew that something was going to happen. So this is my footage

These are just previews, so you can see the full sized pics and other photos in the set by clicking on the first part of the link above each image. Enjoy responsibly
