Hi all.

Hi Sale.
Nice shot. The location shows us the entire new downtown (mostly), not just the BK boulevard. Lots of work to be done but it's really coming along.

Nice shots from Altin too.

Ray.

dang are they still constructing new buildings in dubai? i thought that city went bankrupt and needed a bailout? on one hand it's incredible how they built a city in the middle of the desert overnight. but then i just dont see how it makes economic sense and how it's sustainable. look at how much empty land there is outside those high-rises and yet they keep building high-rises!

where do those developers find enough tenants for all those new buildings? what percentage are those buildings and the burj khalifa occupied? i really doubt most people would want to live above the 100th floor let alone the 70th! imagine if there was a power outage and you had to climb all the way down the stairs! and if a plane crashed into the top thin portion an entire 100 floors would topple over!!! : personally i would not want to live above the 50th floor.

What a stupid title. Indians are not buying the tower, they are just the biggest purchases of space in the tower during the year 2010. However space has been sold there since 2005 - 6.

According to this article there might be some on Dec 1st (tomorrow)

Quote:
To be held on Dec. 1 from 4pm at Burj Park, the glittering ceremony features a spectacular firework display set by Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest tower, and is expected to be attended by over 500 VIP guests and more than 3,000 members of the public.

Thanks, but I'm not happy. I used Shutter priority at 30 sec and let the camera choose the aperture which I think was set to around F20, ISO set to 200 and a IR R/C used. Allot of noise was added in post-processing, but still ...

I also think my tripod is very light and the wind up there slightly shakes the camera.

DTCM to hold series of events at Burj Khalifa observation deck to mark country’s 39th National Day

November 30, 2010

Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) has chosen to launch its activities to mark the UAE’s 39th National Day from the Top observation deck of Burj Khalifa. DTCM’s commemorative activities will be held on December 1 and 2, 2010.

“For the third year in a row DTCM is organising events to mark the country’s National Day, in line with the directives of Dubai Government that all government departments should coordinate to organise National Day celebrations. DTCM in particular has been focused on preparing an innovative and exciting events program each year for UAE nationals, residents and visitors,” said Nasser Juma, Head of Organising Committee for National Day Events and Activities.

Dubai's Burj Khalifa is Still World's Tallest Building, Remains 90 Percent Vacant

Quote:
Nine months after Burj Khalifa opened with a massive fireworks and light show, 90 percent, of the apartments in the world world's tallest building are empty a Dubai agent says.

With only about 75 of the 900 apartments in the tower occupied, asking rents in the tower have fallen almost 50 percent, Better Homes sales adviser Laura Adams told Gulf News. Studio apartments are now available for about $1,800 a month, down from $3,000, while two-bedroom units once priced at $7,100 a month now rent for about $4,300.
this will be the tallest monument ever!!!

90% empty ... they forgot some very important things:

60 - 70% not yet handed over to owners
20 - 30% not yet even completed

... and of course 20 - 30% of the tower is occupied by the ARMANI hotel ... and of course the article is some months old, and of course it was posted here already.
