Hi all.

Happy New Year all - still 3 hours away here ...

Here's some shots from Picasa - A V Manzoor - 10 05 18.
The group he was with must have had a bash in the ballroom as there is some shots of it with tables set up - food/drink happening.
These shots focus on the office entrance/lobby.

The upper entry on the concourse level to the office entrance pavillion. One of the 2 side doors - there is a revolving door in the middle.

The walkway around the outer perimeter of the pavillion to get to the office lobby. When using the upper entrance one must take this walkway. When using the lower entrance on level B1 the escalator that can be seen below is taken up to the lobby. This lower entrance is one of the reasons the CTBUH starts the official measures from level B1.

The outer area of the office lobby. The inner revolving door can be seen behind.

The outer area again. The white pedestals act like turnstyles to line people up to the revolving door. Not sure if there actually is turnstyles installed. The door on the far side of the shot is one way to get to the ballroom - there are also entraces from the outside as well.

The office elevator lobby on the inside of the inner revolving door. The 2 elevators are marked 112 to 154 because they are express to level 123 skylobby where one can transfer to another elevator going either up or down to get to any of the office levels. These 2 express elevators are the lower cab of the double-decker units of which the upper cab is used to get visitors to the observation level on 124 (from the ground level).

I must say the fit and finish look very good. The glasswork, metalwork, woodwork, stonework, flooring, and lighting are a great combination in both design and execution.

Downright fricken awesome edifice !!

Ray.

Might be able to share the full image later if it hasn't been picked up anywhere. Just the pinnacle (the full image is of the full height of the Burj with fireworks going off all the way up it, plus a load of regular fireworks exploding at the base):

(this is at about 50% resolution)

Yeah, I know. I'm a tease.

World’s highest fireworks at Burj Khalifa welcome New Year

• A spectacular showcase of laser, lights and fireworks positions Burj Khalifa New Year Gala among world’s iconic New Year’s Eve celebrations

Dubai, UAE; January 1, 2011: Dubai welcomed the New Year with an unprecedented spectacle – the world’s highest fireworks at Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building by Emaar Properties.

The 828 metres (2,716.5 ft) high Burj Khalifa was the centre of attention for a global audience as it marked New Year’s Eve with a spectacular laser-lights-fireworks show, telecast live to over 2 billion people around the world.

Close to half a million Dubai residents and visitors witnessed the New Year’s Eve Gala from Burj Park, an island set on The Burj Lake opposite Burj Khalifa, and from several other vantage points across Downtown Dubai.

The celebration, which also marked the first anniversary of the grand inauguration of Burj Khalifa, enveloped the whole of Downtown Dubai, the 500-acre mega development, which is anchored by the tower. The community was a sea of humanity, as people arrived to witness the spectacle several hours in advance.

Described as ‘The Centre of Now,’ for its diverse showcase of high-end lifestyle destinations including malls, hotels, homes and offices, Downtown Dubai created a stunning spectacle with lights and fog effects.

I thought the CNN reportage of the Dubai fireworks display was distinctly biased and negative towards the Middle East in general. Could they not be a bit more positive?

Yeah. Primarily, Sheikh Zayed Road.

They simply parked their cars in the middle of a 12 lane highway and went and sat on the grass to watch it
