It's for one person. 200 AED for two it would be a stretch in any above-average restaurant.

So even for 1 person i believe tht the price is not too high (for the standards of Burj Khalifa)

Check out this article that's brutally honest about skyscrapers and the Burj Khalifa:

If a reliable source like the Economist publishes this, then it is completely related and on topic to this tower. Nothing douchey about posting an article related to the tower that's a negative report. We can't all just post "OMG I TEH LOVES THIS TALL BUILDING OMG!". Learn to take some criticism.

Hi all.

The Economist article really isn't about the BK at all ...

With that said, the paragraph on the BK isn't the worst press I've seen by any means. The name change and related bailout is widely known and not really critical - just reporting on 'shit happens'.

The bit about many flats lie empty a year on from opening is just more incorrect reporting brought on by Emaar. The Jan 4 2010 party was the inauguration, not the opening, but Emaar released nothing to the contrary. Most projects don't have an inauguration - only a grand opening, so the press and general public were left thinking it was 'open' then.

The project is not complete even now so of course 'many flats lie empy'. Many of the biggest projects take years to fill with tenants. Also being this is the WTS many units were bought up by owners who had no intention of living in the BK - they were hoping to flip them for a large profit.

Last word on full occupancy was 2013 IIRC. Considering completion will most likely be 2nd quarter 2011, 2 years is very reasonable.

As for the "height, at half a mile (838 metres)" ...
Cmon ... for such a reliable source, a 2 second google is all the research needed to get the height figure correct ...
Perhaps they meant to type 830 - the height to tip (actually 829.842), but more likely 828 - the height to arch. top.

Y'all knew the number aspect wasn't getting by me ...

Ray.

Once again: Lame (as in boringly repetitive, nothing new or that it wasn't said a thousand times already) and unrelated (as in the article isn't about the tower, it just mention it ... as do hundreds of thousands of articles, blog entries or internet postings)

.... oh, your post's first sentence is even lamer though, but that's another (unrelated) cliche story.
