Oh my god I thought he was done doing that! Wow, he's so old, maybe this'll be his last. Although not straight up the spire is and I imagine the spire is a smooth cylinder. How? I some buildings I just don't get how it's done. Maybe he won't go all the way to the top.

Awwww a safety harness? Should have snuck and done it and ended up in a third world prison.

Reply for Fury - construction status

I'd say mostly number 2.

Some questions: Is the Chairman using his office on 152-154 ?

How many office floors are occupied ?

Is the Mosque up top being used yet ? - (and what floor is it on ?)

How tidy are the areas up in the spire ?
( we saw the untidiness in the video from before the Inauguration )

How tidy and finished are the service skylobbies on 138 and 160 ?
( we saw the unfinished look on 160 in that earlier video from Imre )

Has the "OPUS" book about the Burj been published - how is it available ?

Has the giant copy of that book been installed in place in the main lobby ?
( which lobby is it supposed to be in ?

When these area are all tidied up, then the building is really finished - with
just individual fit-outs to be done. That's my position.

I have seen questions about buildings that are occupied on the bottom levels while cranes are still working up top. That did not happen with the Burj, but it happens elsewhere - so the question as to when a building is finished can be open to interpretation that can vary from place to place.

Thank you

I'm sure it'll see a good 10 years of reign or so as tallest before a more useless building like India Tower beats it in both height and pointlessness.
LOL here's the tower that will be it in height and pointlessness:

Hi all.

Great coverage of spidey Imre, Sale, and Paris.
Great to see he made the climb OK - yet another one for the record books for the BK.

Hi Miami.
No - I don't do wikipedia.
While I do see all the errors on the BK wiki I won't bother to correct them knowing someone else can just change it back to incorrect.

Hi Library.
Thanks for the reply to my poll - not many seem to want to chime in.
I don't believe he is. That is one of the parameters I will use to call it complete - if we hear any news on it.

Quote:
How many office floors are occupied ?
I have only read one article on anyone even taking a spot up there. I don't think any office space is occupied - just a guess though.

Quote:

I would presume workers have been using it for some time. It is located on level 160 so it's not available to the public. There have been various articles on what level the 'prayer room' is on. I'm going by the info SOM sent to the CTBUH during the height ratification process - of which I was lucky enough to have some involvement.

There hasn't been any coverage of site visits where the steel zone was accessed in some time - so I'm not sure. I had posted long ago on this subject - you and I think alike in this respect in that it should be cleaned up as part of completion. Alas, we will hear nothing on this subject I bet.

Same as above - no update pics or vids for some time - so ?

Quote:

I just checked their site yesterday. Still says coming soon ...

Quote:

I would think it has not, being the 'normal' size versions aren't out yet. Good question on which lobby. This is something there will be press on for sure when it happens.

I agree wholeheartedly. Thing is its a given we will never hear any such news. I've resigned myself to the fact that picking a completion date will be nothing but an educated guess and unfortunately won't include all the aspects I would like it to.

True and since I'm not psychic, here are the parameters I'm going by - either news or pics:
- The Club (annex) opening
- The Offices (annex) opening
- The offices complete - core and shell (since I think all the residences are done)
- Residence handovers finished - last news a few months ago was 45 %
- first office occupied
- Chairman office occupied

As I said we probably won't get any news on one or more of these parameters so I may call it on just one or two.
I will post for sure.

Ray.

Spiderman conquers Burj Khalifa - completes 828m climb by midnight

Alain Robert says he is not done with Dubai yet as Burj Al Arab is next on his list

Quote:
By Joesph George | Published Tuesday, March 29, 2011

The "French Spider-Man" Alain Robert last night conquered the world's tallest tower, the Burj Khalifa.

Instead of stopping at the top of the building, he continued to climb the antenna at the top. However, that feat posed some particular challenges.

The same here in Greece. Anyway after almost a year, the French spiderman decides to climb Burj Khalifa finally and from those site news, seems that he climbed OK. Thanks to Imre, Parisian Girl and 234sale for the coverage.
