There is no terrace at all

Precisely.

I reckon 148th to 112th.

/edit

Hmm, on reflection, I don't think that's possible. 148 to 124 (observation deck), or 153-112 seem to be the most likely.

R.I.P.
Even if Guinness Book have a chapter for a suicide, this jump can't be recorded, because jump from 148 floor to 108 or something like that is equal to falling to the ground from the 40 floor...

RIP to this gentleman for sure. I noticed the story was not too long ago actually... it's a sub-story on MSN already too.

@Oasis - Those shots are great . Third shot down is quite trippy.

Hi Gerald.

Level 112 terrace is the fourth setback of wing A and faces SZR (300 degrees) - it is the first level of tier 10.

Level 148 terrace is a core setback (C2) and faces 120 degrees - it is the first level of tier 14.

The first level of each tier from 1 to 27 has a terrace and the first of tier 0 has 3. (the 6 base terraces aren't relevent so I won't go into those)
You can use my plan or labelled render for reference - need me to post a linkie ?

So the 2 terraces in question face opposite sides of the structure. So, unless the wind blew him around the structure as he fell, the numbers are incorrect.

If he did land on 112 terrace, then 144 terrace facing 0 degrees, or 152 terrace facing 240 degrees are the likely candidates as 112 terrace is directly below a portion of them.

There could be any number of combinations depending on what terrace he landed on.
Lets hope it wasn't level 124 terrace (the OD) ...

Hi Sale.

CSI-ish enough ...
I was going to go into some detail - but I'm tired ....

RIP to the guy.
Not good to hear of this kind of news - esp. involving this fantastic edifice.

What a reason

Investigations revealed that the man took the drastic step after his request for leave was reportedly denied by his company, located inside the Burj.

And the Observation deck at the 124th was closed. Either he landed there, or the terrace at the lower level (112, 108 ??) was clearly visible from there.

Burj Khalifa suicide named as Arabtec employee

Quote:
by CW Staff on May 11, 2011

A man who committed suicide by hurling himself from the Burj Khalifa has been named as an employee of Dubai building firm Arabtec.

Athiraman Kannan, a 38-year-old Indian, died after jumping from the 147th floor of the world’s tallest tower at around 9am on Tuesday morning.

According to a statement from the Indian Consulate in Dubai, Kannan had been employed by Arabtec as a cleaner in the Burj Khalifa.

Unconfirmed media reports said Tuesday Kannan had jumped after a dispute with his employer.

Burj Khalifa and Dubai overall look amazing at night. Must be impressive to stand in the middle of all those skyscrapers at night with all the lights.

Hi Gerald.
Here is a link to my plan (official CTBUH ratified numbers), methodology, labeled render (again - official numbers), and a text file with various bits of info (freshly updated) - all in a zip file.

http://www.filedropper.com/bkplanmet...ylabeledrender

Frick - I'm in love with this edifice ...
That last statement deserves a couple dancin' nanners ...

Hi Altin.

If he did land on level 124 terrace (observation deck) that faces 60 degrees, he may have jumped from either 144 terrace facing 0 degrees, or 148 terrace facing 120 degrees. Both of those have a portion directly above 124 terrace.

There is another possibility. If he jumped while cleaning windows he could have jumped from level 147 as reported and could have landed on a number of terraces (144, 139, 124, or 112 - or more lower ones if his fall carried him away from the structure) - but not level 108 as there is no terrace.

As I posted yest. this is not the kind of article I want to read involving the mighty BK. News on the handover progress, boutique offices getting some tenants, 'The Offices (annex) getting some tenants, or 'The Club' (annex) opening to the public (and patrons of course) is what I want to hear soon.
I'm still trying to pin down a completed date.

Ray.

Ray.
Hi Ray,

According to The National he was grieving for his dead brother. There's always more to these kind of stories than meets the eye.

Apparently he jumped from a vent on level 148 and ended up landing on the OD (level 124).

Quote:
Police initially had said Mr Kannan jumped from an air vent on the 147th floor and landed on the 108th. Today, Col Ghanim confirmed that the vent was on the 148th floor and the body landed on the observation deck at the 124th floor, as The National reported yesterday, after bouncing off metalwork on the tower.
Sad indeed.

RIP to the guy.

What's that in the distant horizon? Right in the middle between Burj Dubai and Almas Tower, that very faint thing far in the background. Is that Abu Dhabi, or another part of Dubai?

It's Downtown Jebel Ali It's about 35-40 kilometres from the Burj Khalifa, along Sheikh Zayed Road, which links Dubai and Abu Dhabi....

Here are some pics of the project
