Hi all.

Hi DXB.
Yes, Jan 04 2010 was :
- The inauguration on one hand, that softly says 'not completely open'.
- The opening on the other hand, even if it is only the observation deck.
Most people and news agencies mistook it as completely open (as is the case for most projects on 'opening day') and it would seem Emaar wanted it that way.

Hi Guys.
You are correct of course.
I was just guessing.
I should have looked at the breakdown ...
Here is what I have for the 900 units (residential zones 2, 3, and 4) - not including the 144 Armani residences (residential zone 1)
- 33 Studios
- 265 One bedroom
- 465 Two bedroom
- 115 Three bedroom
- 22 Four bedroom
Here is what I have for zone 1
- 128 One bedroom
- 16 Two bedroom

Mostly 1 and 2 beds. DXB your 1.6 est. is probably spot on.
So ~ 850 residents right now based on the 50 % ocupied est.

Hi Ray,

Thats exactly what happens, the state new agencies get on to it and say its open, either they don't know the full story or more probably they are told to say its completed, that way there is more positive talk and discussions among tourists e.t.c when looking at it and viewing it.

You also have to understand that owning in the tower is more of a trophy then a family accomodation, so it would be hard to find people buying or renting even the 4 bedrooms as a family nest, there are tons of villas for that. That's why I said 1 - 2 people before.

Of course I talk based on my observation of life in the city.

Hi all.

Hi DXB.
I hear ya. I never did like all the smoke and mirror mentality, but what ya gonna do ? That's where this fantastic edifice is located.

Hi Altin.
I understand. I was just continuing Chris's thought. With the pricetags on these units, Joe Blow (like me ...) could never live there. Even the wealthy won't have these as their main residence, for the most part.
I think it goes without saying that although Emaar probably does want this structure to be in the black at some point, it was constructed to be a statement - a chandelier above the dining room table of paying buildings, as it were.
I believe it will continue to be succesfull in that role

Hi Desert.
Nice shot - thanks for sharing.

I would like to know if my Catia could read a complete 3D model of the Burj Khalifa, or whether the attempt would bring my computer to melt

Maybe I find in the Internet a model of the outer skin, then I'll try it once ...

I love this structure... it resembles our time as nothing else... Mankind is always aiming higher, makes everything better. If somebody after 200 years asks how could we describe our age, I think our children will say: Burj Khalifa.

Why is this still in the under construction section? shouldn't it be moved to the archives? unless the entire complex is not complete?

Hi ddss.
Lucky you.
I may be able to fit into a large suitcase ...

We will be expecting many pics, esp. the ones from when you make a run through the security into non public areas.
