I was sent that article at work. Just assumed the image came with it? Sometimes our marketing team adds images to increase readership of their often boring internal market commentary and forwards!

You need to tell your marketing team not to use that image, because I intend to make a living off suing anyone using it illegally

That first Emaar one is an absolute abomination. Whoever took it should be shot, but whoever did the Photoshop work deserves to be hung, drawn, and quartered.

Hi all.

Hi Gerald.

I guess it goes to show how not pro I am in the area of photography ...
I think all of the pics above look awesome. I think it has something to do with the fact I'm not really looking at the photograph - rather I'm looking at the Burj Khalifa - tiers, levels, details, anything technical.

I'm surprised by that statement coming from you.
Do you know something we don't ?

- The Club (annex) not open yet (AFAIK), completed ?
- The Offices (annex) completed ?, any offices leased ?
- The Boutique offices completed ?, any offices leased ?
- The 4 residential zones complete (IMO), handovers completed ?
- The hotel complete and open.
- The OD complete and open.

The last 2 seem obvious but I include them in the list to help show the structure is only half complete AFAIK (less than half in physical area ...).

Let me repeat ... Do you have any info you want to share ?

Ray.

If you want everything complete you need to wait few more years

I know an owner, he has an office floor as he said no plan with that in the next 3-5 years , after maybe he will just sell it.

Everything what is in the completed section is totally finished and all units handed over, occupied etc..??

I doubt..

You right , this is skyscraper forum who cares the technical details of pics, quailty etc..

If you want perfect photos better to visit any photographer forums or professional photographer website

TBH, i love it that they choosed a rather simple and subtle lighting sheme for the BD. It gives it style and grandeur, while an oversized lighting sheme could make it look cheap and tacky.

Sometimes, less is more.

I suppose, though the lack of permanent lighting on the spire at night, to show off it's full height is particularly annoying. Much of the spire sits in total darkness for most of the time, unless there is a fountain show on

In contrary, most of the time the spire is iluminated, unless they decide to turn the lights off.

I would say there are water tanks on all mechanical levels, serving the sections below them. Also the plans had 3 water tanks on the lower levels of the steel structure that were also supposed to act as balancer for the sway.

Not true.... the lights do not go all the way to the very top of the spire and if they are on, they are during the fountain shows and at other times the lighting at the top is quite weak, or totally non existent.

I like what Petronas has done for the tips of th ebuildings. It makes them sparkle. The top of the Burj needs a slightly more spectacular lighting feature - I guess the key would be a permanent and spectacular lighting feature. Even if the mechanical floors had some sort of special lighting, wrapping around the tower in bands, it would look better.

See what I mean about the Petronas Towers.... these lights are on all night, every night.... They have lights at the top and around the mechanical floors....

Most of the Burj looks like the bottom half of Petronas, ie., no lighting......

I respect the Burj Khalifa for it's height and the fact it's pushing engineering and construction to the limit but visually I don't really find it that impressive. I'm not trolling here...

The Empire State Building for example, is half its size, 80 years older, and I think a lot more dominant and impressive than Burj Khalifa. Surely this shouldn't be the case for a 828m building? The Burj Khalifa just looks like a giant spire, for me it fails...

This is how the tower looks like at night. During the Fountain show are the dancing festival lights that comes on additionally.
