It's going to take 10 years or longer to be occupied.

The ESB, built at the onset of the last Great Depression, sat mostly empty until 1948 or so. Huge buildings like this call financial tops due to their ambition and need for large amounts of credit funding, and the massive amounts of floorspace put on the market causes a glut in that particular city for years, or decades, to come.

Look at NYC and the tall buildings constructed there and notice the huge time gap after the ESB went up until the next wave began. 27 years to absorb that massive glut of office space created by the 1929-1933 bldg boom.

Woolworth Building 792 / 241 57 1913

Copy-paste is good and all that, but two words: Mixed-use!

Hi all.

- I was going to quote that as well ...

Not sure what any of that has to do with me asking if anyone has any info on changes to my list ...

On a related note, there was an article from Business Insider released on the third of this month stating the BK is 80 % occupied. This is the first news on occupancy in over a year. As with all press articles, I would take it with a grain of salt. I would also assume they meant the residential zones only.

I am aware of how long the ESB took to become fully occupied. That was a different time, era, and location. The BK may very well take 10 years to have all its zones fully occupied but I see no direct correlation to the ESB.

Ray.
From that article, my understanding was also that they were talking about the residential zone also.

As for the office areas, I don't think there are that many on the tower itself .... the annex is another story.

Hi all.

- called the pool annex in the plans
- later, called the health annex
- now officially called The Club

Out of my status list I posted a week or 2 ago, whether The Club is open is first and foremost to me.

That is the burning question that no one seems to be able to answer.

I think the only solution for that burning question that we ask information desk in tdm or ask burj khalifa Staff
