So one would think the foundation work is about to start on the Al Burj ?

Cheers,

It depends on your luck.

I was in April 2005 the first time in Dubai. The weather was perfect 28-30 degrees.
The second time was April 2007. The weather was horrible. I had 38 degrees and it rained also a lot. The view was very bad.

I love how Dubai gets such dense fog. It's perfect for living up in a skyscraper.

Definitely an awesome condition for being up that high! Would anyone have an idea how many times that you might even see this in a year? I would guess maybe a few times a month because of the difference in temperatures between the desert and warm water but even if it was common, it's still an amazing sight!

It's the photos above the clouds from BD that are the rare thing

do I live there, the middle east is abundant in gas like china is in coal, if you think about it, it is a very good chance that it is pollution, they probably get most of their power from oil which produces air pollution

OF COURSE IT'S NOT POLLUTION! It must be some kind of fog or a low altitude cloud thing comming from the sea (see the 3rd pic). Here, in Mexico city we have quite a lot of pollution in comparison to other cities an we NEVER EVER get a thing like it, at the most you can sense the air a bit greyish if you look at long distances (eg. the mountains).

By the way, the pics are great!!! thanks!

I bet Dubai is a very low emission city.

Those shots with fog from the Burj Dubai almost look magical.

Quite possibly. I remember a couple of years ago here in Brisbane when they were building Suncorp Stadium and they had some huge steel trusses to go up. The trusses spent more than eighteen hours suspended in mid air because it was so much hotter than expected and they expanded so much.

Pollution never looks like that, ever. Those are quite clearly clouds. What are you smoking, Mr. Met?
