Last photo made me wonder weather there is any streetlife going on in this part of the city. Needed to scroll back to 2013 to find humans visible in public space.

Lots, but not that much as long as the sun is up, particularly in the hot summer months. I visited Dubai in January last year, and there were large crowds all around Burj Khalifa and the fountain area, especially around sunset. Even more so near the Dubai Marina on the other side of the city.

Not that the place is well-suited for pedestrians, though. I tried walking around the Burj and the Dubai Mall on the outside. It took me roughly an hour, and there were large stretches without any sidewalk or pedestrian crossings.

The google search has mostly top view or distant images also. I'm still looking for more closeup images, like street level.

Do your research. The last photo was taken in late 2009. Back then, Downtown wasn't completed and not every part of the Downtown area (like the area shown in the photo) was accessible for public, because some finishing works had to be done. That's why you can't see any people. (Notice the incomplete road at the top right corner and the unfinished lake)

I also agree with some of the opinions above. Downtown is indeed very crowded, especially at the afternoon during the Fountain Shows! In the summer months, it's about 42 degrees celsius at noon. No wonder that people would rather spend their time in the air conditioned Dubai Mall (which is filled with people btw)

Here's the photo again, so that some people don't have to look for it:

Like someone else said, the city wakes up after dark.

Is there maybe an extra thread for the plaza/park? Or can someone provide me with more images or where could I look?

Cheers
the park was designed by SWA group, you can check some pictures on their website: http://www.swagroup.com/projects/burj-khalifa-uae/

Love how the landscaping seamlessly integrates with the building itself.

i would more like the green colour to cover the whole structure, i am pretty sure it would even look better as the alredy good looking cladding colour in my taste it would be the immaculate cladding colour, a bit reminiscent of Aston Martins classic colour combination but more brighter and not greyish green and golden/copper-like isntead of yellow

While I still have plenty of wedding work and other obligations to finish before I can get back to editing my vacation photos, I did clean one up for my system's login screen. Will post more later in a few months or so ;p.

I wanted to see about getting closer to the tower. This was as close as I got before security made their appearance. Granted, of course I was professional and did explain that I had thought it to be possible to get a ground's eye view of the tower but naturally it's as watched as a hawk being such a prominent structure.
