Im talking about whole Dubai, not only Burj Dubai project. So one worker dies every day in the city of Dubai.

Crap! read the thread Imre posted the safety notice today.

Over 33 million manhours worked since February 2005 and only 5 lost time incidents and over 7000 workforce on site.

"He could be right" do you really think someone dies every day on the project?

Even with the whole of Dubai, you are grossly mistaken. Nearly all of the projects--and there aren't hardly any projects that people on this board do not follow--have had no fatalities at all. Fatalities happen a few times a year, and when they happen we hear about them. There have been either one or two on the BD, there were several during a bridge collapse in the Marina, there was one or two in a fire in the marina, and maybe one in a fire on Palm Jumeriah. It's uncommon enough that it makes the news when it happens. Last year there were I think under 10 worker fatalities all summed. The fact that you heard this outrageously inaccurate figure of one per day "somewhere" does not make it accurate.

I understand from reading posts and opinions that the steel floors are going slowly because they are new. Anyway, this tower is not going to get finished going at a couple meters a month. Is there an updated schedule anywhere?

And just because i like dancing fruit... what happened to the red pepper?

Again, he said in the whole of Dubai, read and understand.

Nevertheless, one a day for the whole of Dubai seems a bit high as well. 365 deaths a year, hmm unlikely imo.

Actually I think that the safety matters and building site casualties are very much on topic when talking about skyscrapers.

This place is a bit too much about looks and timetables. 2000 "wow beautiful" and "when is it ready" messages are not so interesting, are they?

They said that one worker dies every day in dubai, not only on the Burj Dubai.
Are you really suprised that one worker dies every day when workers in Dubai out number residents 6 to 1?

There has been 1 reported death related to the construction of the Burj Dubai. This occurred in mid June after a worker fell from the 130th floor onto the top of one of the tiers at the 109th floor at the time. The Burj Dubai site has very strict safety controls in place which have been successful in addressing safety issues when these arise. We know this from official internal safety reports made available to us last year but which are no longer available, otherwise I would post a link to these.

If anyone has anything to add, I invite you to do so but only quoting reliable sources. Do not make ridiculous and unfounded claims. This is not the place to discuss worker conditions in Dubai. If you want to do that, get in touch with the Human Rights office nearest to you.

Get back on topic please.
