If i had to describe Dubai in one phrase i would use this:

This city is the best thing money can buy!

I noticed today and it can be seen on Imre's picture also, what seams to be another setback on this 3rd steel floor.

Did I saw it wrong and Imre's pic is also misleading?
Did it really has another setback already?
Or maybe they just haven't done that corner part yet?
If it is indeed another setback, was that in the plans or it is a deviation showing maybe a comeback to an earlier lower total height figure?

I hope is the 1st or the 3rd.

Imre,

Your pictures are the main reason I check this thread every day. So I'll stop being a silent lurker for a moment to say thank you.

Thank you.

I am almost sure that is the 3rd. Better not be the second
But it looks like full height level with 6.4m and not a 2x3.2m. Maybe the intermediate floorplate will be done after so work can go on at level 159.

Is that a third steel-level nearly finished? If it is, then I think they have accelerated a bit

THX for the pics Imre

Latest pic of SZR looks lovely, it's on my desktop now

Hi all.

The next setback in the plans is level 159 - start of tier 17 and will face South. The other side from Imre's shot from today which is from the North. They probably just haven't done that corner yet. ( I hope )

The columns being erected now look like full height - 6.4 meters as I posted a couple pages ago. Looks like 158 Mezz. floor is only accessible by ladder as the T16 stairs have doors onto 158, 159, and 160 but not 158 Mezz. At 160 looks like you use a different set of stairs to continue up - T18. Elevator BS3 ends at 160 also.

The schedule I posted a while back for the steel shows 4 days per level. 8 days to complete each level but working on the next every 4 days. Perhaps they will start to achieve this pace now.

Getting good now.

This has to be one of the great works of engineering I've seen. I don't know how challenging the engineering design really was - I hope one day the engineers will tell us the full story - but this is something special, and it's exciting to see it take shape.

I was wondering if anyone would agree that the slow speed of progress at the moment is due in part at least to the complexity of the steelwork being put in right now? I'm no expert but it looks a lot more complex (and strong!) than your regularly structural steelwork.

One day I will be a millionaire and I will buy property in Dubai, for sure. One thing I feel is that, even when other supertalls eclipse the Burj Dubai's height record, as surely as they will, none will steal from the elegance of its design. It's not just amazing, it's beautiful.

/me cracks the whip at the steel workers!

Cladding is very fast and will be faster and faster and Burj Dubai will be narrower and narrower. I think, the concret work on the whole structure is complete now.

Perhaps the fact that he can look out his window to see and the fact that you only have access to pictures from yesterday means something
