I suppose you could cheat and build it on land that is 400 m above sea level - then you only need about 1200 m.

and i think this is OFFTOPIC!!!!!!!!!!!

On topic: wow they completed 50% in just 7 months, so the completion of the cladding by the end of this year isnt impossible......so Imo the whole tower should be done from the outside this year!

But most of these are just gonna be postponed then canceled, South korea has gotten quite the reputation for doing this.

but in saying that. these towers are years away. i think the first will be al burj, but wont topout until 2013 at earliest. lets just enjoy Burj Dubai and not speculate about taller projects. this is why i wanted a Uc section and proposals section. the two get mixed up and everyone talks crap for years.

Think we are missing the point here a little bit, Burj Dubai is NOT just going to be one of the tallest towers, it would be alot more than that. Superb sleek design, + the whole new downtown phenomenon around it + th whole area will have alot of commercial importance.

in OTR pics, looks like they put up more steel, so it's not a setback.

actually ,its only 1 floor.
lev159 is big- 5.4m high.
see elevation>
http://img172.imageshack.us/img172/8...pdetailas0.jpg
then it will be another big floor- 6m high (lev160)
then 2 smaller floors each 3m high. (levels 160mezz, 160mezz2)
After that its pretty much 6m floors all the way up.

Hi all.

Unless Cul has some new info this is the plan for the next few levels.

The columns that are up right now are the "walls" of level 158 and 158 Mezz. So the top of them are the floor of level 159 - the start of tier 17 - 604.9 meters above ground. This is the same figure as Emaars site for 159. My plan has been the same as Emaar for many levels now and it should be as the info I used came from them.

Level 159 will have a terrace facing 180 degrees - South( approx.). Level 160 Mezz. 3 - the start of tier 18 - will have a terrace facing 300 degrees - towards SZR.

I really don't think they are going to deviate from this plan at this late stage of the game. But .... they have before and if they do I will gladly make version 4 of my plan.

Great to see they are ramping up the steelwork.

Great to see the cladding is moving along at a good pace.

Great to hear all the regulars on here giving their perspective, input, updates, and generally getting along.

Great time to be a skyscraper lover - these forums almost make it seem like we are all right there.

Have a good one all.

CULWULLA I love your diagram. Looking at it makes me feel like I'm in the clouds.

Now that the steel is underway it looks like we're watching a totally new skyscraper grow. They're "only" on the 3rd floor.
