The photo look a bit too near for that distance even...
Actually according to this formula:
d = (2Rm + m^2)^(1/2) + (2Rh + h^2)^(1/2)
where d is your distance, R is the radius of the earth, h is the height of the burj and m is your height above the Earth.
You could see the burj from a maximum of about 460km if you're 10km up with no atmosphere in the way

Burj Dubai is nowadays the symbol of the growing Emirate Arab Unis. Each time there is a report on this area you see Burj Dubai.
Dude, you are one of the oldest members looking at your join date (2005) and making your 1st post now, but to defend our tower, it is quite cool, quite strange as well and quite unique, what have you been doing all this time? haha, nice one

5th floor, you're a bit negative, even though the shit about the customs there and the drug stuff is quite wack, it has nothing to do with this marvel being built so just let it be, we don't care about this stuff, we are here for the construction not humanitarian crap.

I think as allready mentioned; that Al burj and BD will never compete amongst each other, that would be just plain stupid for Dubai to use all of it´s gunpowder to shoot it´s own heel, the alburj I think was merely thought as a deviation scheme, to make it un-sexy for other cities to try to beat the BD, knowing that AlBurj would snap the title right back, but I still hope it will be built, its design is more open to height change during construction than BD, witch is so constrained due to Proportional-restrictions,
Things are going awesomely well, Imre doing great as allways, OldTown coming in strong, and the usual suspects (cul, altin, fury etc) THANKS YOU ALL

I love how we all see this as a 3 story building now. A steel skyscraper on top of a concrete skyscraper.

Is that the first of the mechanical floor cladding in place or is it a trick of the light?

And so it will also overtake the Petronius platform and numerous 2000ft masts. And Burj Dubai will become 5th tallest structure of all times

No. It is the tallest freestanding structure ever built right now... In a few months or so it will be THE tallest structure, above ground, of any kind in the world made by the hand on man in all history
