Don't worry, no crane has gone missing. Both are still there on top.

Good to see the cladding on that lower tier finished at last, and the new cladding starting at the base.

That steel work looks tough. Would be interesting to see what it feels like being that far up working on that...

woowwow

hey guys, just came home after a long dinner talk with my old cousin, the "rich one" in the family and he has been making alot of money recently (like he didnt have enough before hehe) and I was telling him about the whole dubai phenomenon, witch he knew already a lot about, but what he wanted me to do was to find the best spots to invest in a apartment for him in the city.

So... I am asking all of you to give me your opinion on where should be the best place to buy, of all these thousands of projects. I would want the burjDubai ofcourse but I think that would be hard to get and a bit costly at this moment
please help me, if I pull this for him I will get the keyes to the house when I want, with my camera ofcourse

It seems like all they can accomplish in a day is to raise a steel beam or two and maybe put in some bolts when they feel like getting around to it.

in my opinion, if they are counting the concrete as being 601m then i think they should include the slab in the final height. so 834.5m sounds good to me. =)

maybe the same company that had created the lobby fountain of BAA is also involved here?

An apartment on 'The World' would be just as big an investment as anywhere else - Think of the renting potential as an holiday home or business? Hey he could go for Iceland too (That is if it's still available? I think it was one of the last areas to be developed)...Iceland would be very central to everything and isolated at the same time. You would have to be very wealthy to get something though but it would pay off in the long run.

Thanks man, i had allready checked that out though, Iceland is one of the most expensive ones and also one of the most sought after. Anyways, he is more interested in being in a tall building than an island (we allready live on an island, with the tallest building being 80m hahaha) so he liked the idea of having a futuristic metropolis outside his bedroom window.

Is people forgetting that this steel skyscraper (200m+) is being built on top of another skyscraper, witch is also the tallest in the world. Just the logistics of getting the material up there is a factor big enough to justify it being a slow work.
But they will and have been faster than recent days, lets just wait and admire this marvel until then.

One more reason for the slim appearance of BD's top right now could be:
these first steel floors are among the tallest I've ever seen with 6.4 meters each (lev 158 and 158mezz have been started at once, as if this were one more floor). By a width of 25 meters, this is a width-to-height-ratio of less than 4, and if you assume a normal floor height of 4 meters, the actual tier appears to be almost 15 meters thin. And I agree with Culwulla: considering the enormous distance from the ground, we're not used to the scale up there so far anyway.
