This is how the water in the Burj Dubai Lake should look. I hope they make it happen.

About Cranes

I understand that this two cranes are going to be replaced for a higher one to be able to finish the job. I wonder how that crane at the very top is going to be taken down when the BD is finished. Thanks

Hi all.

- Is that a trick question OTR ? - Nice pics btw. Your durations posted are from the last floor - so 10 days. I know what you are saying though - I guess 8 days.

As to the crane dismantling questions all I have is from the 705 m. version - perhaps is still close though.

Fantastic pics Fury, for the first time you can also see the roads in BB taking shape also. No more getting stuck in trenches and bottoming out the car for me.

New background for me in the first pic, I can even see my new house there....thanks

thanks for photos and info guys. i think the steel levels from 156-162 have progressed slow because they have concrete floors, which makes them inhabitable.
from 162 and up its ALL steel, so they should progress quicker.

I only wish I could be right there watching this thing getting built ! Not sure I wouldn't melt in the summer there tho. Nice of you to keep us who live on the other side of the globe updated.

We will have to wait and see if my 8 days untill the next level's first column erection is correct. It will be level 160 mezz. 3 and should be 6.4 m. tall. The top of it will be 630.5 m. Meaning when it is up we will have the tallest structure on earth !! . I wonder how long it will take the world press to start putting out the articles - can't wait !

Want to understand level 160

So yes velbujd the top of the column is at 624.1 m. 1 more level and we have the tallest structure on earth !

This 6th steel level is:
- levels 160 mezz 1 (3.2 m.) and level 160 mezz 2 (3.2 m.)
- the third and fourth (last) level of tier 17

The next level (the first of tier 18) is 160 mezz 3 (6.4 m.) and will have a terrace (setback) facing approx. 300 degrees (SZR). This is the only level of tier 18 and is the last officially numbered level. Tier 18 is 19.2 m. high so 3 - 6.4 m. columns.

As has been said before there will be a staircase with landings every 3.2 m. that could be considered "levels" continuing up to the top of tier 22. Then ladders with landings at every tier after that. Again these could be considered "levels".

Very interesting time for us skyscraper fans !

Can one of the experts please explain what makes Level 160 Mezz1 and 2 as mezzanines and not level 161 and 162?

What makes these as inhabited levels where Mezz3 is not ?

Is the inhabitation by people, computers, or mechanical equipment?

What is the machine called BS-4 hoist that shows on the diagrams for L160 and all its mezzanines, as Culwalla noted that the lifts stop at L160?

Thank you

Great pics! Cladding has progressed unbelievably fast, and The Index is starting to look really tall.

normally "mezzanine" levels are smaller or irregular heights or shapes compared to levels below or above. the 160 mezzanine levels must have voids or look down into them.
The LMR (lift motor room) will at lev160mezz3 /tier18 which is highest floor reached by lift.
Inhabitation means that humans can work and occupy that level.must have windows and air cond/electricity plumbing ect.-this becomes then inhabitable!
the 40 or so floors above 160 are not inhabaitable= no electricity/water, ect. actually they may have a simple light for workman maintence guys to switch on to access.
BTW-the passenger lifts to lev154 -162 start at lev 138.
think of the structure above 162 as a spire with an internal staircase.
just happens to have encolsed levels and lots of then (40).
Burj dubai project quote the spire as the "pinnacle" ,which rises through the spire structure.
confused yet? ha
