The faults in UAE are not capable of producing a earthquake that would knock it down (geologists can accurately determine the maximum size of earthquake that a given fault system can produce).

Edit - My guess Gatt was tomorrow.
so were not at 624.1m. so it wouldnt be any time soon that it will become the WTS, because the tallest structure is 628m

LMC knew they had found an excellent arena at the very top of a newly constructed Galaxyscraper Superstructure. Thanks to the modern miracle of super tensile solids, these three buildings reach a staggering 12 miles high at their pinnacle. The thin atmosphere and reduced influence of Earth's gravity provide an interesting test of the Tournament athlete's ability to adapt and conquer in extreme environments.

Quote from me just yesterday - post 5070 ...

Quote:
Helghast ...

The floor or starting elevation for level 160 mezz 2 is 620.9. Notice my plan says level floor elevation. The next column in my plan is the height of the level. So right now the top of 160 mezz 2 is 624.1 which is the same as the floor of the next level.

When they put up the first column on level 160 mezz 3 the bottom of it will be 624.1 ( the floor elevation of the level. ). The top of it will be 630.5 m.

I hope this clears things up.
I am not sure how to make it clearer than this ...

That is hilarious Darth - good one !

ZZ to the rescue.

Also, thanks ZZ for the detailed heights of the top floors. In just days or hours as you state Burj Dubai will finally take over the top crown.

Overturning and base shear due to wind loads should be much much higher than those due to earthquake on a building this tall. The natural frequency of the building is very low, so an earthquake is not effective in mobilising the mass of the building.

Inertial forces (ie, earthquake) are far more effective at damaging shorter buildings with large plan areas.

At any rate, the structural engineers would have considered an earthquake load combination somewhere in their analysis (as for any other major building), but it almost certainly wouldn't have governed the design.

624 meters high is such a great record ! I cant imagine when it will reach 819 m. ! Still a considerable 195 meter-tall fraction to go...

I just had a thought. I wonder how many people are going to try and drop things from the top.

Why would any one try to drop anything from the top? None of such types will have the privilege of living or working in the tower, and I'm sure they will make sure that none of the sky deck visitors would be able to do that even if they try.
