Consider that the construction of the base doesn't imply the immediate erection of the crane.

Congrats Burj Dubai, UNBELIEVABLE achievement!
Btw, i think it became 630,5 m (624,1+6,4) not 630,3 m, but Fury surely knows it!
Also, just digged it:

If you refer to the hypotesis of the base for the "steel crane", from my point of wiev, it certainly is not.
I'm not sure that the structure will be used for that purpose, but it seems extremly similar to a crane podium.

Oh come on. The only way this thing could come down is if there was some sort of problem with the construction. I doubt it.

I wasn't a huge fan of the building at first but it has grown on me. Looks much better with cladding. I'll have to travel to Dubai at some point.

Okies thanks, i see the rounded collumns now in the diagrams....

but CULL... isnt ur diagram of when the spire has been fully lifted into its final possition.... it must start off from lower?

i remember in some of the diagrams that there was a "temporary opening for spire jacking" or summin...

^yes thats right. Tier19 /643m level will be the level where the spire will be jacked from.
but spire wont appear until alot of the steel structure is built.

I hope the construction will go faster now when floors are empty, much less complicated than previous ones and also smaller in size. Floor a week would be great
