Why are there gaps in the cladding (i.e. no clads on some floors, while clads are placed on floors above & beneath them) ?

looks like the cladding crews now have it down to a fine art......and the steel crews at top are really getting into the rhythm of it.

Burj Dubai Documentary

Just watched the documentary, it was excellent . . . it featured key developments in skyscraper history, technology & building methods with clever animation simulations.

Some good facts around the Burj Dubai but maybe not many people on this forum are not already aware of, still an exceptional documentary & well done to the producers & Channel 5.

I am currently transferring the video down to a size/resolution to post on Youtube, will post here when it is uploaded & available (Possibly tomorrow)

It was good to learn about the evacuation plans. I had been wondering about those. I had no idea it had any safety rooms anywhere in it - I have only heard of one supertall, in China somewhere, that did that. And yes, the animations were excellent!

Yeah Shanghai world financial centre in Shanghai has refuge room every 15 floors or so. This is fireproof floor and windows can be opened freely there. The Big Bigger Biggest was a stunning programme, although at the end the answer to the question would be, the mile high tower.

CULWULLA's latest diagram kinda looks lonely. There's only one more thing Burj Dubai needs to surpass.

Hi Dubai Freak.

I like the sounds of that.

I have every video and tv show made on the Burj so I was hoping someone would record this and offer it up to us fans around the world.

Looking forward to it.

Edit: Quote Helghast "how come we dont see the 7th steel section ??"

I was thinking the angle in the April first pics was the reason we don't see level 160 mezz 3 columns that were clearly there in the pics from the end of March. Looking closer I am wondering if this is the case. Perhaps they had a problem and had to temporarily take them down. If the latter is the case they still broke the WTS record and will soon have the columns back up and be continuing on.

Probably just the angle of the shots though .....

Is the steel part welded together? Or riveted?
