Hi all.

Blog - Jan Chipchase - 08 04 06

Hey ZZ - I have not seen that plan for the whole structure. It is for the spire lifting plan only.

This top down angle of Burj Dubai seems the best since it seems much easier to take in the whole tower. Thanks Fury. One thing I noticed is that the water looks green now. Is that the real color or is it the camera? Either way it looks better than that nasty blue color but it just looks quite dirty now.

I also love the shots from the airplane. It's so tall that it looks like it's either above or just a little bit below the wing level. What airline is that Omaro and where are you flying to? It looks like it might be Jazeera Airways. I love their livery and color.

Hey Spandex,

I by no means consider myself an 'info-god' but there is one subtle and totally overlooked detail... there are still 2 main cranes installed at the top of the tower. This point was raised some time ago but I could not be sure it was simply a delay in the removal of the second crane.

Now that we are quite far into construction of the steel section I am sure we are looking at more than just a delay. This could mean the steel section will be extended. However it could also mean they are using the second crane as a key part of the accelerated curtain wall installation process, which at this point is the more likely explanation but not the one I want proven correct

EDIT: I just checked and it was you and I who had the discussion about the second crane

Thanks for the pics OTR. It looks like they made some changes to the lake liner. How does it look from the ground?

Hollie

Its back to green, but a yukky shade of green but I would assume this will clear over the coming days.

They are also extending the trench in front of BD to accommodate another fountain feature in addition to what they already had in place so there is a load of dusty work in the vicinity making the temporary lake pretty dirty.

Just to give a better idea to those that have not visited the BDDT area, I have shaded in some key areas to show the extent of the development and land available for future plots.

Grey : Burj Dubai Boulevard.
Green Burj Dubai Park
Light Blue: Extent of BD Lake
Dark Blue: extent of BD fountain feature.

I was assuming that now that there is no more concrete involved the rest of the construction would go super-fast, but it barely seems to be moving at all.

its going up 6.4m steel section per week (equalivalent to two floors).it takes time to hoist steel up over 2000ft.its not bad progress.
