Btw, a small completion of renderings of Burj Dubai. Something that this thread maybe need one of in the first post?

Anyway, I'm really looking forward for Imre's return. But have to say thanks to all the ones that contributed great updates in the meantime!

Yah, like mentioned by someone before, i also wonder about the lake depth. So it really looks like a big pool and doesn't give the illusion of a lake

DMP is now updated.

I've put the original PDF's back online but I'd like to respectfully ask for people to NOT post links here from the site that are related to personal correspondences between Samsung/EMMAR/Besix staff or anything in relation to costings or financial agreements.

Please help me to keep these PDF's under the radar for as long as possible and we will be able to share this stuff for much longer this time.

I recommend that anyone who is interested in this stuff to download and save them to their personal files to not be disappointed if they disappear again!

Big thanks again to Fury who has spent many hours sharing this stuff and breaking it down for all to understand. Thank you

Definitely does, especially in that picture showing a swimming pool and this lake, the lake doesn't look much deeper.

TGS - It seems that the plans call for controlled evacuation using both stairs and elevators, as well as refuge floors throughout the tower. Additionally, water tanks might be able to be used in emergency.

I wish they could go back and dig it deep and throw some plant life so it can look like a natural lake or river. I know they have the money to do that. This was the look I was hoping for:

Malaysian firm to cap Burj Dubai

Sky-high trailblazers: Malaysia’s Eversendai will become the first company in the world ever to carry out steel works at 555.3 metres.

Malaysia's Eversendai Corporation has won a US $14.7 million (AED 53.9 million) contract from Samsung Corporation for the structural steelworks on Emaar's Burj Dubai.

Work on the steel structure is set to begin this week - making Eversendai the first company in the world to carry out steel works at a 555.3-metre height.

"We can confirm that Samsung has taken on Eversendai to carry out the steel works for the Burj Dubai and to construct the spire at the top of the building," said So Young, spokeswoman, Samsung.
Story continues below ↓

Eversendai will require more than 4,000 tonnes of structural steel for the Burj Dubai.

The company will build the spire from the inside of the building, and will then use a hydraulic pump to extend the spire out of the top. This will mean that the height is adjustable.

"The finished spire will actually be dropped down and built inside the building, and will be jacked up to full height; when it's ready the height will be locked off," said Fred Durie, executive director, Emaar.

"The project is scheduled to be finished next summer, but I think they may finish earlier with the way things are going."

Eversendai has worked on other major projects with Samsung, including Dubai Festival City and Burj Al Arab.

The company is also working on the Dubai Mall project.

Eversendai has completed more than 32 jobs in the Middle East in the last 11 years.

In September, Burj Dubai surpassed Toronto's CN Tower to become the tallest free-standing structure in the world.

According to the most recent estimation, the tower stands at 555.3 metres.

I don't think Eversendai won the contract yesterday, since you can't make the steel frames and ship them to Dubai in under one week. So this has to be some sort of official announcement that the steelwork is going to begin.

I wonder if the spire will still be adjustable after the tower is finished, then they could make it even higher when some other building is build that's just a little bit higher.

And I will somehow miss all the old Burj Dubai thread nonsense but it will be a hell of a lot better to navigate.

It looks like its shot in some Mediterranean location.
The pic is really really cool, too sad i've never seen such a clear sky there and that photoshop is needed to get the whole "wow" thing the very final touch
